I don't know if you are still around Cairo, but did you know I had access to Triremes? I agree the island was lightly defended by land, but I had galleys defending it via sea from the most likely attackers. I didn't consider you a likely attacker though because I had access to triremes. I actually wasn't trying to hold that turn and in fact am very pissed that I didn't guess you were attacking. I 100% could have held at least fish in the sea if I had put chariots in queue to emergency whip.

I think the 1st attack is ok if you didn't know I had triremes. The 2nd attack was pure king making. You could have expanded into undefended Cornflake cities (like I ended up doing) and advanced your position while leaving a bulwark against Giinger. I literally had an alliance and attack timing ready to go against Ginger and your assault ruined it and bled my troops.

That was worth a lot, actually, so thank you for your comment. 

I placed forts on the tiles you suggested and that did let my fleet through to the other sea. I was about 3 turns from declaring war on Ginger and attacking Pi-Ramesses as of about three hours ago when the game was ended.

Also, when Ginger attacked Cornflakes, the latter gave me 300 gold, presumably a bribe to keep me from attacking Cornflaks as well. Which I was happy to accept, since I have no desire to compete with Ginger over any of Cornflakes' cities. But is also set a precedent, in my mind at least. Want me to not attack you when it's advantageous to me? Better make it worth my while.

with the first strike that Ginger landed against me I knew my chances were over. The gold was some combination of "reparations for killing your 3 scouts early in the game" and "thanks for being a great trading partner when I was doing well even after I killed your scouts". I was far from the next military tech and had enough income to keep my troops happy with the AGG discount so figured I might as well send it your way.
