ljubljana made peace with Ginger and advanced a stack of Cuirassiers towards DistrictDiscount, so I think the end is nigh. I will try to survive long enough for you to take back over.

In light of the grim situation, and because the Zulu menace garrisoned Magnus too much and cut the road, I called off the reclamation effort and retreated to the capital for now. I will prepare for a final stand with as many troops as possible in the capital and VenetianArsenal while erecting some semi-respectable speedbump garrisons at the other four cities in the east.

Also I asked Ginger for Horses, since you mentioned that being a problem. And I will finish researching Constitution.

Have a nice trip. smile.

Turn 206.

DistrictDiscount, CityStateRush, Ouch!, and Pillage Farming have been captured by the Zulu Empire. Only ChopOverflow and VenetianArsenal remain. They are using their high populations to whip as many units as possible.

I promoted a Vulture to a Maceman this turn, since no useful techs are in reach. I got another Vulture stupidly killed by destroying a Zulu Chariot that scouted ahead, then realizing that there was no Road on the Chariot's tile to retreat with. smoke.

The Zulu army is split into many smaller pieces. If the enemy advances farther without recombining, it might be possible to profitably maul one of those smaller pieces. I gathered and hid most of your army in the hills between your two remaining cities to await any opportunity, or just to retreat to whichever city it better for the last stand.

The Workers are hanging out on the Lumbermills and Destroyer the Work Boat is hanging out off the occupied coastline.

EDIT: Asked Ginger for health resources too.

BELATED ADDITIONAL EDIT: Longship Spam revolted to you, but only for the first time, so it did not flip. That's fun.

Turn 207.

The Zulu menace recombined their Cuirassiers and Muskets into a stack that is in range to hit Chop Overflow with 2-movers from the northeast when they play next, out of range of where I positioned your army, and too strong to attack anyway. I foolishly did not anticipate how fast the Cuirassiers could reposition and gather together over the uncultured Roads.

I left a few guys and a ceremonial Archer in Chop Overflow to sell their lives dearly, and sent everything else to make the last stand in VenetianArsenal, which is still 1-turning units with dry whipping and overflow.

At least I did kill another Zulu Sentry Chariot. This time it might not even cost the victorious killing unit his life!

Finally starting to catch up with this game and read threads. Hopefully you've had a chance to read my thread and can see my reasoning for hitting your stacks, but basically it was a relief valve for my equivalent of this:

(June 19th, 2024, 10:26)greenline Wrote: The military disparity between me and ljubjana is sadly high enough that he can throw two monster stacks at me with impunity, while a third is no doubt on the way after taking my NE city.

I was very much trying to pick battles I could win, and to that end preserving my Southern cities to whip out more units was important to that end.

That makes sense. If I had wanted to really make gains I should have teched guilds before engineering and whipped a lot harder. And to be honest even if I had taken the southern cities I still would have been in a bad place vs ljubjana invading. Although losing all my initial cats made things worse on that front.
