[PB79] MirOh No, what am I doing?

Again, pretty sure you have both national epic and oxford there so you can't build wall street (max 2 national wonders per city). That will make it significantly more expensive.

Oh nooo. My lack of corp and late game experience is already showing

T204:

No peace shakehead

Coldrain's army moved in on Code Names (Eastern City south of Smash Up).

I attacked and lost 13 Cannons, 8 Cho-ko-nu, and 2 Riflemen.

All the rest were wins. The stack was wiped.

That's 2,000 hammers lost for me, 5,400 hammers lost for coldrain.
Very good news for xist.

It may take me a few turns to grab Smash Up.

The end:

That is indeed a nasty hammer exchange. Everyone learns their lessons about collateral damage, which is that it always hurts more than you expect it to, even after you account for how much it hurt the last time.

For me it was losing a stack of knights and maces to catapults and impi smile

T206 update:

On T205, coldrain evacuated Smash Up and I traded 2 Muskets to his 2 Riflemen to take it back. I have 5 Great Generals (and a super medic).

T206, coldrain offered peace! I thought about declining and going after his 2 southern cities, but that just makes coldrain an enemy forever and costs army in the short term while xist can draft Infantry and DoW in 6T. Plus, coldrain finished Railroad T205.

I never found coldrain's war weariness against me. I checked the F4 screen and could see some player's war weariness with each other, but for coldrain it just said "You are at war" in yellow, no war weariness listed. Either way, I didn't want to drag on the war and piss him off.

Hopefully coldrain doesn't want to fight again in the near future. My goal with coldrain is to have long term peace and I just offered open borders.

On T202, xist beat me to the border gap and founded 2 cities. I'd have founded one on T203.

My spy went up north to notice xist is opening and closing his canal. 3 Galleons are up north, but we're safe until T212.

Xist and I just finished Scientific Method this turn. I can finish Communism in 2T and start the Kremlin in Antium or Star Realms.

I think Antium (Levee, Forge, +2 Christian Temple) is the better city, but it's on xist's border. Star Realms (Levee, Forge, +2 Christian Temple) is almost as good. If I'm racing xist, I'll look over all my cities by the end of Communism.

At some point, Gira changed his capital to this city:

Gira has been pretty quiet all game long, but his manufacturing power is rising faster than xist's even though xist is spreading Creative Construction.
I'm not sure if Gira has any long term goals I should worry about. He recently finished Steel, Economics, Constitution, Corporations, and is working on Rifling now.
He hasn't ramped up military production, but he's had a great tech rate while we've all been warring, so I gotta keep him on my radar.

Every (original) capital city tile has oil. That's a pretty cool addition.

I believe I noticed soldier counts updating mid-turn on the demographics screen as fights occur, but it looks like the power graph doesn't update until 2T after the fights. I thought the small dip coldrain and I had was our main fight, but it looks like that's when I hit his 18 soldiers on my southern coast. Now I see the bigggg swing.

Xist's GNP is scary. I think he'll get Communism in 2T, too (he has 1400g bank, spends -650gpt). With Creative Constructions, we may have a race for The Kremlin. Scary, scary.

I'm worried about my score over xist's. I think xist is in a strong position with CC, Assembly Line, high Bank count, and the 2 new cities at our border.
I still have the most land by far (boosts my score +644 vs xist's +504 boost), so I see why coldrain wants to fight me, but the numerous islands everyone else has are quiet boons.

My population will be rising so my score will put a target on my back again.

Hopefully I get Communism first to assure I can have a GA soon (after Assembly Line).

Questions:
(Q1): Is oil usually made this easily accessible in MP games?

(Q2): Would you have pushed for war with coldrain? Assuming I could take 2 decent cities or even try to conquer him while xist and/or Gira try to vulture or backstab, it'd be a violent end. Maybe I'm too focused on fighting back xist that I ignored a chance to turn my army lead into a winning position.

1) I don't think I've ever seen it under the capital. It somewhat depends.
2) I don't think so. Having your army in Coldrain land while Xist can build infantry is not a pleasing thought. Also, hopefully Coldrain finally figures out Xist is ahead.

3) You got pretty hurt in that war, I'm not shocked you're a bit behind, but you came out mostly intact, which isn't nothing. But ya Xist didn't have to whip / draft to the bone and got to build infrastructure.
4) Feel free to wealth / research build if you need to win communism race.
5) SOME of Xist's GNP is culture, he does have createcon.
6) Does Gira have his UB levees up? That would explain sudden manufacturing rise. Pick finally paying off and to be fair it is a REALLY good UB.

As you can now see, the non flood plain desert river was deliberate and not a mapmaker error.

Kremlin powered whipping seems to be a guaranteed victory strategy if you can whip nukes out fast. Modern civ warfare gets real ugly when nukes hit the scene.

Yeah that tile makes sense now! I felt like a dick after asking what was up with that tile  lol

I'm getting nervous with the game going this late lol. I just wanted to fight cuirs vs cuirs like I'm used to in all my SP games.

It sounds like xist got the Spy. While the game is down, I have some new questions and looked into corps some more.

General:
I learned how corps maintenance works (damn, Wall Street would've been nice) and see that I'll lose about -1g per hammer (after factoring in +6g in HQ with market, bank, grocer and -25% maintenance from courthouse), which sounds fine with some wealth building. It should be OK to spread to all of my cities, then. Or I did math wrong and will surely go bankrupt!
Spending -3g to -6g per extra resource seems OK. 8g+ seems too expensive for my empire. Ideally, I wait a few turns after spreading Mining Inc to at least half of my cities (will be 4 next turn).

A future Free Market switch during GA can drive the costs down even more.

Kremlin:
Yoyoyo I want that Kremlin. He got the spy, I get the Kremlin. It's only fair.
Thing is, I checked xist's cities and his capital is pretty damned good. It's the clear favorite to build the Kremlin with its factory, forge, and 21-pop. Its surrounding tiles are pretty good, but mostly towns, so it should max out around 46 hammers per turn with the +9 from CC.
If he doesn't have a 65+ overflow, didn't just finish a coal plant, didn't just start a GA, didn't swap towns to workshops, and doesn't whip, then it should take him 9T to finish the Kremlin.
With a coal plant, 8T (76h away from 7T).
If he gets GA, potentially 7T.

I wanted to build the Kremlin in Antium (~10T), but after looking over my cities, xist's cities, and considering the timeline, Small World is my only option. (My HE city, so I miss out on military production)
Small World can pack a whopping 58hpt with +75% modifier. Last turn I had 8 overflow and started an Explorer after studying up on how overflow works (and testing), so I should have +35 overflow to start Kremlin.
I should get Kremlin in 8T (55h away from 7T).
More Mining Inc resources and a whip can trim that down to 7T.

Questions:
(Q1): How often do you see players swap towns to workshops? I know I do it during conquests or space race when I have all the tech I need, but not sure how good it is in MP.

(Q2): How much do people usually offer for extra corps resources?

(Q3): Should Mining Inc only go to production cities or are commerce cities fine, too?

1) sometimes when conquering or resetting. Ie when there are no multiplier buildings. In that vein you could workshop the dyes at small world.

2) it really depends how much people think you are ahead. 5gpt - 20gpt. I wouldn't do yet. You have a pot of teching to do.

3) yes I would spread everywhere with courthouses. You may need to build wealth to offset the costs / advance tech faster. I had up to half my cities on wealth in pb75 during this same tech time frame. Commerce multipliers I wouldn't start any more of.

4) i would suspect xist is building in his ironworks city (which I assume you are building but hadn't finished yet).
