It looks like Commodore might be proving his point on what kind of map this is. However his second will bulb Paper, not Guilds, or what am I missing? Old story that the Guilds bulb requires avoiding maths.
Now a third merchant will work, but would a trade mission get there faster? Guess a lot depends on when he notices and readjusts.
Re: Pindicator complaining about the map... not to downplay or address his points in particular, but TBH I don't think any of the players other than Thoth has expressed happiness with the map. Even Commodore, who accepted the 'you must be this rush-oriented to play' aspects of the map and went with them, has expressed that the game would have been more interesting on a less rush-oriented map.
It occurs to me that Thoth's plan went like this (whether or not he intended it): attack his neighbors to put them at #4 and #5 in the rankings, making Thoth's far neighbors #1 and #2, such that they'll have to fight each other.
Medi games are always a rush fest.
You start with HBR, and can see horses: There is nothing stopping you settling on horses and chopping HA and ramming them down a players throat on T10. You literally cannot play them any other way than rushing, or immediate rush defense. Frankly the same applies to Ren era games. Ind games start with cavalry, modern games start with tanks and future games are even worse, start with MI. The only two era starts which are not a rush are ancient era (essentially a 50 turn pre game) and classical (which is really the true and most well balanced era start).
This was pindicator's game to lose, and all he needed to do to thwart this attack was build a few capital archers.
Did it become the RB meta at some point to not bother garrisoning your capital? I know it can get tough when you're dealing with 7 move transports and commandos, but this is just a galley invasion, not even from vikings. I'm a pretty bad player and I still make sure my capital has some junk in it if it's seaside.
Well it certainly happened as far back as PB28...
Which reminds me, I found those screenshots the other day so maybe I should see about uploading and relinking them.
Did Pin lose his capital?
