[SPOILERS] ALWAYS PEACE? What will Lewwyn do?

Mnnn, daily update. Which by the way is literal since we will not be getting any more than 1 turn a day now. On the bright side we're almost guaranteed at least one turn.

I opened the save to this:

I am really enjoying the naming scheme for this one. lol

I founded Platypus and only took a 6 gpt hit. EOT that turned into a 4gpt hit. I thought about naming Platypus - Platypi, but I named Sheeps Sheeps... SO maybe I should have named it Platypuss. In the end I decided I just needed the anime to have an s at the end of its name.

While exploring Cyneheard's land I found this:

So he doesn't have gems hooked up yet? And that was his most recent plant. I must have really put a higher priority on grabbing my metals and working those high commerce tiles. Once he has that maybe his GNP will be closer to even with me.

Second note. Cyneheard just switched into HR! So yes he's not gunning for Currency. Most likely he went Math>Monarchy then. Here's the thing about HR though. I have said previously that I don't think I'll be switching into it any time soon.

Base happy
3 metals
1 religion
1 furs
1 wine
1 temple
=
10-11 happy give or take the temple
+
forges in larger cities
=
13-14 happy

By the time I reach that cap I may have even reached calendar and gotten dyes. Do I really need to switch over into HR? I'm just not foreseeing the necessity at this time.

What this means in terms of Cyneheard is I think that going Monarchy before going Currency is a mistake. Currency is free gold that will continue to grow with every city you build. Our Empires are already big and they'll only get bigger. Getting currency before Monarchy is more efficient since you don't need the happy right now, but you do need the gold. What going to help you tech faster and support a bigger empire? Trade routes or extra happy?

BTW this applies to Scooter too. Cyneheard's just on my border though so I end up talking about him.

Take a peek at demos:

Lovely. I got 6 pop increases this turn instead of 5 when I did a bit of micro. As a result my crop has jumped sky high. That a 20 food increase in 1 turn.

GNP still at 0%. MFG close. Land increased with new city. Pop grew as stated.

City count:
Me – 15
Scooter – 13
Cyneheard – 12
Nakor – 10

Also every city has a terrace except the city founded this turn. I have a worker chopping that out in 2 more turns.

Let's see an overview of the Empire:

Looking good.

That is some serious deforestation.

I know right? lol

Seriously though, earlier is better for chopping these forests. And every chop is going into either a building(w/ Hinduism) or worker or settler that is getting a bonus. So every chop is giving me that many more extra hammers. More than anything else, efficiency and snowball.

Great play lewwyn and its my strong opinion that you have right with curency before monarchy and even calendar first because anyway you dont want to stokepile quecheas in cities.

Thanks Mackoti! I agree about the Q's too. Extra Q's = extra unit cost.

T90 update:

15 cities
16 workers

I'm estimating 18 cities and 18-19 workers by T100. Cyneheard got to 13 cities this turn.

GNP is nice. Still 0%. I'm getting 60gpt. 1 more turn of gold and I'll be able to get currency in 3t. So I'll have currency in 4t. I'm also debating whether to get hunting before or after CoL now. I will have the furs city planted in 5t. Is grabbing hunting for the camp worth the time vs getting CoL and possibly losing Confucianism? Actually probably. Getting Confu won't be that great since it would add a religion that might get the free spreads over Hinduism. So we'll see, I'll probably go Hunting before CoL then.

MFG about the same.

Scooter is second in crop. Cyneheard has 138 crop. Nakor... at least he got currency first.

Also it looks like either scooter or Cyneheard have started building a few extra Qs for HR.

I didn't do too much special in micro. More cottages, couple chops and 2 mines. I have a pig and a sheep yet to pasture and add to my growing crop yield.

Defenitly hunting, there are lalot of happines resource and because this is a building game i supose you never will leave organizat religion so one more religion its not good.

Yeah I'm beginning to reconsider CoL for that reason. Maybe I don't want a second religion. There's still the extra monasteries but beyond that I wonder if it does more harm then good to me at this stage.

I got 2 turns to report, but not too much is happening on the home front.
Though I though this was interesting:

I've got 3 of the Top 5 cities on T91. That goes back to 2 when I whip Zebras on 92 but its pretty cool nonetheless.

Here's another interesting picture of Cyneheard's land:

That rice is north of his capital. Its the rice I used for my 3rd city, Zebras. Why is he not using it? The land is not so flush with resources that you can ignore a good food resource like that. I don't really understand it.

Cyneheard has also planted 2 new cities, 1 each turn. I'm not sure where though since I haven't seen any new borders. This does mean however that he's caught me in city number, for now. This last turn I built 2 new settlers and I have 2 more being built.

Let's check out the demos from the past two turns:

T91:

T92:

Gotta love that GNP spike. Currency in 2 more turns. I probably only need 1T gold to 1T Hunting.

One more picture for the road:

Nakor and his roads to nowhere.

LMAO

It's true I could! But yeah that would be SUCH a dick move, and Nakor isn't really a threat at this point. More like I want to keep him happy and settling towards Scooter instead of me.

I was reading Cyneheard's Always Peace duel thread and I noticed that in that game he also spread his cities out there. Not sure if he'll be able to beat me with the city plants he's made.

Additionally, I saw the final map for that game. Krill had blocked off Cynheard with a line of cities. I don't think that strategy will be as a effective on this map given the cylindrical wrap and that my neighbor is Nakor. If any of us attempts to block the other off in a similar fashion they'll simply expand at the other neighbor. It's just not as feasible.

Still Scooter and Cyneheard have tied my city count now. It's time to expand again. I will have another 5 cities planted before T100 and another settler moving.

Currency will be finished end of next turn. I'll plant my fur city the same turn I start teching Hunting.

I've also been thinking about CoL and the multiple religion thing. It might be worth the extra religion for a second shrine and the ability to build a second temple in a city so I can run 2 priests. Even if I'm not getting Hinduism to spread for free that might be worth it. Right now I haven't gotten a free spread in a long while anyway.

Demos:

Broke 200 Crop, I have 100 more GNP then 2nd place. 2nd place GNP is Nakor at 99, 3rd is Scooter at 76, 4th is Cyneheard at 74.

GNP graph:

Of course my GNP will take a small dive when I settle all these cities but I should also get a nice boost from trade routes to counter that.
