So if you guys weren't already aware, RB is putting together some sort of ridiculous RB Mod PB with as many teams as possible. While everything about that description sounds unpleasant and like a recipe for disaster, the theme for the game is apparently "chaos", so I'm curious if you gentlemen would care to join with me as a team secretly following Perpy SG / PBEM rules. I would create a sockpuppet account to join the game, and then we would take turns controlling it (and the civ) and 10-turn intervals or something. Playing to win would be strictly optional- playing to screw over each other and not be the person stuck holding the hot potato when we die would be hilarious


Anyway, I haven't really thought a lot about it, and I'd be perfectly happy to just lurk the game instead. But hey, it could be fun- if not actually playing the game, then at least reading the aftermath when it inevitably collapses circa T120, and seeing how people reacted to our schizophrenic empire.



Anyone interested? If any of you guys can think of anyone not already in the game who might be up for some silliness, by all means invite them in as well.

Also, instead of using [screenshot] tags on our pictures, we should put them in [spoiler] tags. It's easier for your eyes to skip over text versus skipping over images.But I'm not fussed about any others accidentally reading my reports.

And let's upload all our images onto Imgur.com, as otherwise people would get suspicious if the pictures start loading from multiple image hosts. For extra points, type reports in Locke style broken english.

As for others guessing who's responsible for this smurf account? I'm not very active on RB these days, so I'm definitely not a suspect if I'm not posting inane nonsense in the lurker thread!

Sounds good. Also, to keep folks guessing perhaps a random number of turns played each time? Eg, rand(0,10) or something like that - just to keep folks guessing. We could just pregenerate the table each time so that it's set.

In Sum: Barry is a 5-player account (6 with Parkin unwittingly participating) playing the game using a self-imposed Perpy variant. Which sort of fell apart at the end, which is a big part of the reason why I wanted to just end the game, since nobody (besides apparently Parkin) was willing to play further, for a variety of issues.

I, Bobchillingworth, who is typing this right now, take full responsibility for all of this idiocy, except for whatever crap Nic wrote on the first page, which I still have yet to read. I hope this trainwreck entertained somebody at some point. Well, somebody besides me, I've gotten a kick out of it

Final note- I would prefer that nobody reveal our identities or gimmick to the other players- give them something to look forward to


Also kind of surprised that the name "Barry Lyndon" didn't give the game away. Commodore basically figured it out, except months late and using Google :P It's seriously a great film.

Thanks for coming clean, at least 4/5 of you.

Yes, the civ is in an unwinnable position, but that doesn't mean it's not possible to enjoy playing the final turns. As I mentioned, the position has some possibilities for minor entertainment - or at least it did until the preemptive (and illegal) whip.

I should note that subbing turns is far from an equal burden for different players. One player with a careful plan and precise requirements is far more of a burden than ten "Barry" situations. I am quite happy to continue playing the final ~15-20 turns if you do not wish to play. It's not any trouble.

The main thing I'm unhappy about is the fact that you (or I guess "player 5") asked me to look after your civ for two weeks, then without warning returned merely to handicap it and revert it to AI. That came across as very rude. You're free to choose to play the game or not, but don't bite the hand that feeds.

I was going to give Bob a chance to come clean, but obviously it's not been me. I don't "lol" or "gtg", or smurf anymore.

Queeg's also used the Barry login, most egregiously of them all. I frankly don't see any problem with the perpy idea, or using a shared account...just why hide the identity?
