I did some preliminary scripting work and I can create a new random map using the water/land layout of an existing WB file with the resource/forests/etc layers added on top by the torusland algorithms. Does this sound all right to everyone? Do I need to make the resource placement more random to avoid feelings of vomit?

That sounds like the best solution to me. I will let the others decide on the vomiting issue.

That sounds fine to me. Thanks Seven!

That sounds like an extraordinary amount of effort you've put in. That sounds good. Much appreciated and thanks.

OK, I'm running with it.
This also opens up the ability to have some latitude-based stuff like more jungle at the equator. (Before, it wasn't happening because we were shuffling everything randomly.) So I've added that in and unless I hear objections I will keep it. However, I'm not going to add a belt of useless tundra/ice land. There will be snowy forests and little bits of tundra but I don't want to cannibalize any land for this map.
Note also that the original map used a script that placed an insanely high number of grasslands and forests. I'm planning to use a more standard number. Again let me know if you object.
Also, just to confirm, this is still going to be for 12 players, correct?

Seven, don't forget that the script needs to randomly place at least one barbarian submarine on the map. And that the lurker thread had a particular suggestion for the accessories for that submarine.
And thanks for your scripting work to make the game possible. Sounds like cool stuff.
