But I kind of dislike the term middle bitch. No, actually, I don't dislike the term, I dislike that it also applied to me. If only it weren't so, I could have mostly died in a different sort of spectacular way. ![]() But Krill, you know this map is terrible, and you did it anyway.
Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon
I think Commodore has more options in this map than I had in pb18. Granted, that's without seeing the quality of the island to his south, but at least he has options. My only option in 18 was to pick a neighbor and throw everything I had against them.

It isn't terrible but you knew putting one guy in the middle wasn't the most fair arrangement. You and I have both made enough maps by now to know to not listen to what the players say they want, right? At least I've learned that lesson after my last time. Anyway, don't mean to derail the thread, if we're going to bash the map maker that should probably go in the lurker thread. I'll find my way to the exit.

Maybe he'll learn after being put through the experience for once. (March 19th, 2015, 20:54)spacetyrantxenu Wrote: Mmmm bacon drunk time. It's hard to be mad when eating bacon gets you drunk. Just don't let that city die, I'm pretty sure that would be a tragic waste of pork. Nah, I'm a little miffed at that barb axe because instead of sending my spear west towards Commodore, now I have to keep it and the archer just finished in Amnesia around to defend Leon's from the barb axe. I think the archer in the city only gets like 85%, so it should win, but who wants to take the chance that it doesn't? Yeah, I was surprised at the map layout putting someone in the middle like that. But my knowledge isn't complete -- I don't know what what's to the north or south of Commodore -- and in both his neighbor situations he has two neighbors that also have to deal with each other as well as him. So it's not a pb18 situation where both sides have no better play than to press against the person in the middle (not true for every island but it sure was for mine). Still, his best play is to establish a defensible border against 1 or 2 sides and then plan an eventual conquest of the third side. It's not a pbem62 situation either where the world is set up so that people are in psuedo-duels; even Commodore has room to expand north and south of his start that wetbandit and myself can't get to. If anything I think yuri may be a bit too far south, but it's my goal to make sure he realizes this is not a sandbox game for him.

He had a plan to settle the island with this settler, then he noticed my worker preparing the ground for city #6 by the horse and panicked / decided he had to settle on that plains hill to stake out a few more tiles on our border. If he settles his city 1W of the sheep I'm fine with that border and I'll leave him be. But I have the feeling he thinks that this is his land... That ICTR would be so much more profitable for him too

You should play in the SMEG test game. I'm pretty sure Commodore doesn't want to play in that. You could finally get some peace.
Not like you have PB18 dragging you down anymore. RE: PB8, I'm pretty sure that 95 times out of a hundred you should have won that war. I'm still not quite sure how you didn't, nevermind the clusterboat afterwards. |
