On an unrelated note, I know this game is on pause, but it feels pretty over to me at this point. People are going to be hard pressed to overcome the edge Ichabod has at this point.

I sorta like how a winner quickly emerges in civ 6. Both 4 and 5 can really turn into slugfests in the endgame, especially in multiplayer.

A bit early to call it. Bacchus has a nice isolated position. Arabia and America could also work together.

Ichabod got a free city? That hurts but it isn't over.
The reason you snowball so hard in Civ6 is that it keeps things from spiraling out of control via speedbumps (housing, happiness, food, cost increases) and nuking everything (i.e. no multipliers). There's no true corruption system and conquest is really good because it helps you bypass the settler cost increase and the buildings are no longer taken from you because they are on the map.

The build plan here is for a trader, then going into either a monument or a district depending on what the tile picker does.
Does anyone else feel that settling up on an opponent's capital and then first-building a Trader is kinda missing the point?

Suboptimal's whole war plan is halfhearted, really. It might work if Kaiser had no army, or if Ichabod manages to occupy Kaiser's whole army, but without that sort of luck I don't think he accomplishes anything. He'll be able to hold Dalwhinnie, but mostly because Kaiser has bigger problems.
Edit: That said, I'm half-convinced he's playing this right. The DoF means he probably won't ever really have a chance to take Kaiser's capital, but settling up on the cap with an up to date garrison (and swordsmen boosting the city strength) means he'll still get significant profit from Ichabod's war. If he's not realistically going to get the cap, then a focus on economy with just enough military to hold the borders is the right approach.

I really don't see much of a plan, just an "I'm going to put a few units on the border in a few turns and that should be enough to take the city".
Most likely outcome at this point seems to be that he distracts Kaiser just enough to let Ichabod take the city ... and then he's pressed against Ichabod's border and his experienced troops.

Actually, production in the new city will be initially really slow to matter much for the conquest. However, his capital needs to produce military after the current builder. He could mine the iron and then upgrade as many warriors and slingers as possible. His first batch of upgrade could be two slingers and one warrior (170 gold total). If he plays it right, that could be enough to take the capital.
However, iirc, he is going to wait for too long to attack. Is there an active DoF going on that prevents him from attacking? (The break has been too long for me to remember)

Yes. But it appears to only be delaying him by 4 turns, most of the pace is due to the time it takes to get the city founded. Which I think is mostly because it's his only accessible iron and he wants a sword.
