Indeed. He was very gentlemanly about it, truth to tell.

I would say that Kathlete wins either way this goes - aren't they pushing development of Byzantine lands while this is happening?
I recall a ton of worker/chopping orders written up before the fireworks started.

I wonder if that was a subtle reference to a sneaky plot, or if I'm just reading too much into it?

The lurker issue lurches from one extreme to the other ...
Whosit Wrote:Question for Lurkers:
Now, I was under the impression that this box is only empty when no hammers have been invested in a project (such as on the turn when something else had just been completed). T-hawk Wrote:Krill is correct, Sullla is not doing anything underhanded there. There is another explanation but I fear it would be spoiler to say. Whosit Wrote:Can you tell me this: Is my basic assumption incorrect? Is there another reason the production line would appear "blank" aside from no hammers being invested? That is, can hammers be invested in the city's current item, but still not show up on the Espionage screen?
Another possibility, I suppose, is that the cities have such massive overflow that nothing takes more than a turn to build, but that would be insane at this level.
... and finally ...
T-hawk Wrote:No. Your basic assumption is correct. Whosit asked a straight up and down game mechanics question. I didn't know the answer, but I knew some lurkers would. I decided to watch this little by-play as a good test regarding how much mechanical support various teams are getting from lurkers. Its good to see that he finally got his mechanical question answered and also nice to see lurkers exhibiting some restraint in postulating what might be happening (even though we know full well what is happening).
If I had have know the answer, I would have just said ...
You are correct - the box is only empty when no hammers have been invested.
... and left it at that. Let him figure how how you get builds complete turn after turn after turn.
to you T-Hawk.

so is it correct that the game is paused until a replacement for DSP is found?
I'm looking at the CfC pitboss thread and it doesn't look like anyone has posted there yet asking for a replacement? I guess I'm wondering if anyone is actively looking for a replacement other than DSP himself?

Take it as a sign to go lurk RBPB3 and watch England win the game.

Jabah Wrote:The Jowy/ottoman stack seems to be really vulnerable now, only unpromoted phalanx and injured units, any promoted axe or HA will have decent (or at least decent enough considering your situation), so i doubt it will last long IF youcould play defence for a few turns on the southern front.
[the stack is still big, so it might take a while, I guess you should try to prevent it to meet any danski stack (even if he is also mainly axes)]
I think your opponents make a clear (hopefully fatal) strategical mistake by bringing far too few spears, especially your northern foes. Hey - its the Sullla, Speaker and Jabah team! What? You are a lurker ... gee, it sure sounds like you are part of the team.
antisocialmunky Wrote:The only problem with the south is that the Eastern Flank is very vulnerable from multi-pronged attacks after Shiloh falls, especially Fredricksburg. Anti will also be directly pressured. Another one ... do you think that they don't know that? Lurker comments that comment on possible opponent moves or the current team's position should go in the lurker thread.
It is starting to get to the position where any Spullla come back and long term victory will be tainted by their lurkers and their unsolicited assistance.

After kicking myself for spoilering myself on this game when dsp now needs a replacement, I'm thinking of remaining unspoiled for the RBP3 game in case somebody needs an alt, and with that many players it seems like a sure thing

No need to get snide.
Yes I think that they did know, that's why I posted a response to Jabah's post. You rules of conduct don't specify articulating observations/opinions on things that are obvious and on the table does it? It was an observation with some explanation of the consequences of what might happen. If so, then clarify your rules of conduct because I don't see it.
The only thing that could apply is #3 in response to their choice of abandoning Shiloh.
Quote:1) Lurkers can respond to civ4 mechanics questions (eg how many turns for a worker to chop a forest? Why didn't my cottage grow? How does the AP work?)
2) Lurkers can congratulate players on achieving a goal (eg Well done on getting that city spot)
2a) However, don't reveal unnecessary information on your comment (eg Well done on getting that city spot - I really thought that Greece was going to get it)
3) Lurkers can participate in option discussions but only after the player has articulated the options and only to the extent of pointing out additional strengths / weaknesses of options that the player might have missed
3a) Lurkers can NOT suggest additional options that the play might have missed
3b) Lurkers can NOT express opinions about various options
4) Lurkers can express opinions on player agreed rules, but should also point out that rules agreed by the players should be discussed by the players
5) Lurkers cannot ask sequence questions (eg when will Settler for Black Dot be ready?)
6) Lurkers can ask for screenshots
Nor.
Quote:Lurker's Code of Conduct ...
1. when I win - I don't want anyone to say I only won because I had lurker spoiler information
2. no giving away my plans to the other teams
3. no giving away their plans to me
4. don't make me haunt you if you wreck my game
5. don't make another team haunt you for wrecking their game
6. will your actions stand up once the spoiler threads are uncovered?
7. what would you say if a player came back at you with one of these questions / comments ...
* "Why did you tell so-and-so our plans?" Everyone knows what's going to happen with Shiloh. and the shifting of the flank. City isn't there anymore, therefore other cities are now at risk.
* "So-and-so never saw that coming until you told them" See above
So apparently your understanding is different than mine. All the more reason to hammer out an non-ambiguous list instead of these subjective common sense lists since people's definitions of 'spoiler' are very different or just ban commenting all together. I'm so tired of these 'oh X posted a spoiler bad X, you are bad' posts. -_-'

Yaz is also doing this, and it's very appreciated. In fact, it may be a win-win, because the odds of you being able to take over for someone are high and I would assume taking over is more fun than lurking.
