Quote:If we settle there, the worker currently 1E of the capital should next move to chop the plains spices so that he can move to chop the grass spices next in order to get a work boat out of city #2.
I should have the time to play through some more turns now that we're about to complete our sim, but settling on that hill and chopping a wb with 1 worker while the other hooks up sheep sounds very good.

God dammit. We were really not expected to move.
F me. This is disastrous.
Haven't ended turn because we might want to talk about Wheel vs AH for tech. I'm in favor of Wheel even if it delays the sheep. Improving the sheep is only +2 food on the oasis, and I think roads are necessary.
In case I forgot to mention, holy smokes the copper layout is a nightmare. We've got another source (and silver ) but it's cold comfort.

What's the problem? Settle on the copper for a 3-hammer city centre. Can't be pillaged by chariots either -- works out great for us.

You're not going to need wheel to recruit axes/spears in the 2nd city, so I think we should go AH first. Chop a work boat and then you'll be able to whip a spear/axe on size 2 or slow-build it.

Good idea.
I’m on phone so I might be too brief. Bing is Imp. If he plants 1W of the cows, he can deny us our copper and our settler is finished longer before AH. Even if we plant second ring for the copper, that’s another 9 turns before we can get it, assuming we don’t first have to dislodge a warrior of his.
If I were Bing, I’d deny us our copper, get horses with a quick Imp city 3 and kill us. He can do it. The question is does he want to.

You are also the most aggressive player on the forums. He doesn't have perfect information -- I doubt he will do that.

I take that as a compliment.
Speaking of perfect information, I don't have it:
Why does Bing move off his grass pig to a plains forest? Barbs can't move into borders yet. The 1/2 tile isn't better than a 5/0 for Imp settlers or any other foodhammer units. It's tough for me to believe he stopped his settler build to build a warrior as quickly as possible. If he went worker->warrior->worker, his worker finishes on t25, so he could have then went max hammers, but that seems very, very strange. (Extremely delayed warrior rush? ) Or perhaps somebody else's warrior stepped on his pigs?
For what it's worth, we're about 4 turns away from research visibility on him if he keeps putting EP into someone else. I'll put research onto AH and end turn later today.

Bing's power went up by 2k after working something besides his pigs for 2 turns. I dare to hope that he was forced to build a warrior. His pigs weren't pillaged, so perhaps someone's scout was just being an asshole? I'm really not sure. (And that 2k power increase could have been hunting, but I doubt it.)
I don't have much time today, but I'll test a few more lines. Right now I'm looking at using our western worker to mine his plains hill rather than chop. It saves a turn down the line, and it's not the worst tile.
Edit: No way mining the hill is best...

I moved the workers to chop some more.
Notice that we have research visibility on Bing. I reduced our EP weight on him to zero so if someone meets us this turn, we'll at least get a couple of EP into them. Bing is at size 3. I'll see if I have time tomorrow to do some cloak and dagger on him.
I'm still nervous about copper. It's a very long, slow walk to our metal.
After the settler completes, we finish the warrior in queue then revolt as the chops go in. I'm pretty sure we build another settler after that next warrior, since the cap will be pretty well improved and city #2 will have a boat and a worker.

Late here, so a shorter report.
The bear shouldn't slow down the settling unless we get unlucky with its moves. (Although this will be the first time I've tested CtH's barb-proof settler escorts.)
We met Vanrober (and dedlurker Miguelito) somewhere. Since I can't see a unit of theirs anywhere and the bear isn't damaged, I assume they got within range with a scout and pulled it back. (They did not double move us.) Vanrober has 24 EP into Bing; Bing has none into Vanrober. Vanrober's at two cities, size 3 and 1, so a touch faster than us.
