Also, SpaceTyrantXenu has been developing a map for this game since I said it would take me a while to make one, so barring any major disagreements I'm going to let him use that for the map. I've looked over it and it looks well done to me, so I think you'll be in good hands map-wise.

My laptop kind of drowned so I currently have no way of playing. I should have that sorted in about a week. I may have to drop if you guys want to start sooner.

The map isn't finished yet but I'll be working on it more over the next few hours and then whenever I can this week. I don't have a date set to deliver the map but it's kind of when it's done. Should be early this week, pending what feedback I get from a review team once I post it for review. But I'm slow and plodding like when I play my turns, I think I have about six hours into this map so far, so who knows when I'll really finish it.

As for what is involved, I'm trying to make a fair map that is fun for everyone to play. No unfair advantages, no one doomed from the start, every starting position has the same chance to win. That kind of stuff. Hopefully a few days waiting will be ok since these games usually last for six to nine months.

Slowcheetah, the map may or may not be ready before you get your laptop fixed but I definitely don't want to start over with a different number of players. If needed someone can let you play by proxy over the simple early turns. They post screen shots and you say what to do, or similar. Should be workable.

Map Maker can overrule the TGL ban if he doesn't think it's needed.

Now that we're using snake pick, do you guys want to see your starts before picking or not?

Xenus solution sounds good to me. Although we'll see if it's necessary obviously. With a snake pick I definitely want to see starts before picking.
