[SETUP IN PROGRESS] Pitboss 33: Industrial Era start

I feel like your sandbox file is just bugged Brick and you should start over with a new file. What if you roll a new map with seven players and the correct map settings and set everyone to Peter of India pregame, before the WBSave is created?

Maybe the settler cost adjustments by trait don't get calculated correctly if you just modify the WBSave and change the leader combos as usual, because there's some other part of the WBSave that needs to be changed too.

They all have "StartingEra=ERA_RENAISSANCE" set--is that what it's supposed to be? Maybe it's reading what the game settings say for player one, then reading the file for the rest? I'm grasping at straws here.

Yeah that's normal - you discover one tech and it advances you to Industrial.

Here's the WB file I'm seeing it in. The first player cost is 310, the second player is 301. I'm not sure where the functional difference in their setups.

So... They're both showing as 310 to me.

Clearly Brick forgot to turn off his cheat mod where he gets cheaper settlers. neenerneener

(I'm also unable to reproduce the problem with that file.)

This. If there is an issue then I think it is simple altering of the text in xml will not be enough for this type of start. Important actually as someone could get a huge boost if they have pasted over Bismarck for example.

To show I'm not crazy here's 3 screenshots for players 1, 2, and 3. (You can tell player number by city name.)

So... I think the settler costs are fine, and it's just Brick's game installed that is, well, bricked. Nobody else has been able to reproduce his problem.

In any case, I think we can now confirm the settler costs for each leader/civ which means we should be good to go ahead and start submitting our picks, right?

bang I mean, I just installed civ on this computer two weeks ago. And I've seen this problem in other maps I've generated, on two of my computers. I'll try some stuff when I have time later today.

If you aren't seeing the problem with that file though it can't be the WB save being bugged, it's just plain text after all. So theoretically the game should be fine once uploaded to the pitboss server.

I think I just realized what the problem might be
