[SPOILERS]PB46: (In Search of) Fine Foreign Dining, by Hannibal of England

Here's a sim of Granary after the Settler, with one chop.

This sheet also has a column for "Has Granary" and a "Whipped" column!

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...sp=sharing

Gonna also try a variation that whips the granary after the chop, as this first attempt loses 9f because it needs to avoid the fish for 4 turns so that the granary has time to fill up.

I like this spreadsheet, but truth be told I prefer to do most of the early game work in my head and a sim to verify. What I am wondering though, is how far you want to take it? Are you going to add drop down menus for the tile yields for each pop point, to make it easier to run the hammer and beaker inputs? Are you going to add in the granary food savings, and whip hammers, and how all this affects the food box? Because that would be a pretty awesome spreadsheet for people who work in an office, and want to hide their skiving.

You know you can revolt to slavery and whip out an eot16 worker with England? What's the reasoning for not doing so?

ahaha, well, I did just add an unhappy face counter, but I think that's as far as I'm willing to take it. FWIW, I did add most of the bells and whistles while in the office. smile

Truth be told, I also do most micro in my head but what the spreadsheet is really nice for is a.) comparing results and b.) double-checking results. (e.g. that "Variation 3" from a few pages back)

Good question! LET'S SIM IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!! (tomorrow!) The question is essentially whether the 30h from the whip will beat not working an improved wheat tile for X turns.

FWIW, I added a variation that whips the granary after the chop and it comes out quite a bit ahead of the one that finishes it slow.

Also note that although the spreadsheet shows the worker improving the dry rice, this isn't necessary. The worker can immediately head towards the new city on T33.

Whipping Worker after WB: +3 worker turns, +1h, -20f. Doesn't seem worth it!

Yeah, it does make it much easier to compare.

The difference between the worker whip at size 2, and just building the worker, is the whipped worker actually finishes the wheat sooner. Growth to suze 2 takes a turn longer, but regrowth only takes 4 turns due to the excess food on the original growth to size 2.

I can't really see how we can make a single worker opening work better than the double worker opening. regrowth to size 3 with a full granary eot36. One worker minimum to improve the second city, the second worker can improve the rice or cottage, prep third city site. If we ran straight to size 4 and a second settler.then that should be whipable T44. And that drops the city to size 2, but if we wanted to hook the rice and then go with 5>3 whip cycles that only delays the settler2 to eot46 with the rice hooked T40.

After all, the second worker is essentially the profit from the first whip, and the extra 2 forest chops.

I'm actually mostly concerned about the lack of military units, but the only real way to manage that is to mine, or burn hammers and whip a warrior pair. Which we can do in an emergency but is stupid to plan for at this stage of the game.

That just seems wrong. The wheat is hooked quicker. You dont chop the forest except to wait for Agricultre, and then move back.

Comments on spreadsheet: Column W is wrong, showing the beaker output per tun. Formula should be =floor((U2+1)*V2, 1) (and this is verified to the output from the actual sim).

Row 11, turn 9, fish is a 2/0/3 tile, and to make the numbers work you would have to work the rice, not the fish. But I've actually used this turn to put hammers into a worker.

Actually, Joey, the spread sheet is hard.
