In talking with you, you've shown a decisive night action order that you've stuck to, so in that aspect I don't think there's been any issue. However due to tonight's actions, it was perhaps not the best possible ordering, due to how certain roles can interact with others. At this point I would venture you've done the best you've can, but if you host again, before the game spend a bit more time analyzing every minute way a sticky situation could come up like this; cause every situation you aren't ready for WILL happen.

Explicitly posting an order does imply a relatively open set-up, and much of the 'fun' meta here is rather heavily reliant on the closed nature of the set-up...

Hmm? Just because you've posted an order doesn't mean it reveals more about the setup. You can easily include actions in the list that aren't actually in the game, that is if you go into detail about specific actions.

Well, if there isn't any order ambiguity, perhaps it just stems from being a first time game creation. I can understand that there will be some growing pains there, and i hope the players are as understanding when the game is over. I'm speaking without the benefit of full disclosure, so maybe what I say should be taken with a grain of salt.

Still, this has gotten me pondering creating a setup of my own...

I don't understand why you have told them the order now.

uber usually simple says:

Night actions have been pre-assigned a priority order that seems sensible to the GM and will be processed in that order.

and thats all he gives. There is no need to tell players every last bit just because they ask in thread (or pm).

For the most part this works well.

I actually just came up with an interesting setup. No idea when I'll have time to GM again, though. (Yes, it will not have mirrored wolf packs. )

Still, this has gotten me pondering creating a setup of my own...

I just wanted to make a note since I saw this: my non-Werewolf social-deduction game should be ready to run after this game finishes. Since we've been seeing some burnout with WW lately, I'd really like to try running this game next, give people something somewhat different to try out and add some variety.
