ok someone tell me what happenned here.
![[Image: kvzgevH.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/kvzgevH.jpg)
granary is supposed to give you 50% food after growth, right? so why if my max food is 48 do I have 23 food after growth and not 24? I timed it perfectly to grow to size 15 in exactly 3 turns, but I somehow lost a food to inflation so its going to take 4??? really.
I also apparently used liberal arts major math and miscalculated my gold stockpile, so we have 3 more turns until machinery, not too. had to turn research to 70% to ensure we get it in 3 turns.
I'll do a full report later, just logged in to look around haven't played the turn yet.

Because last turn, you went up to 46/46 food, and the granary saves half of that number, which is why you saved the 23 food. If it saved 24 food that would be more than 50%.

bah, ok. that makes sense, but it should work the way I want it to work

I'm surprised it's taken you this long to figure out how granaries works. novice must mention something about them in every game he plays.

funny, I get that trick. Apparently I skipped over the basics but learned the advanced stuff.

boring turn actually.. I didn't even whip.
forced to play before azza thanks to the weekend long pause - I can't stay up all night.
still pushing on for size 17 or so at gilgamesh, despite the granary hiccup. I have a chop coming in 3 turns at maths. originally planned for the 10th cat to 1 turn, but debating putting it into settler for sheep/horse tundra city, and making up the cat with an extra whip in king arthur.
couple of notes:
![[Image: 04oEcsc.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/04oEcsc.jpg)
decided not to whip the spear. already has 49 turns of unhappy or so. manageable, but I just need 15 hammers into the market to 4 pop whip it - then I can save whips for maces.
![[Image: 2mhXqr7.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/2mhXqr7.jpg)
ill 1 pop whip this cat next turn, overflow into courthouse. then I can whip the courthouse and start maces.

this city is so incredibly food-lite. for that reason alone I debated going lighthouse first. anyway decided its just going to be slow to develop but better to not slowdown the empire/research rate. I have a chop coming in in 3 turns, then I can 1 pop whip the courthouse. after that probably won't whip it again - need every growth we can get. the western wines will be finished the turn it grows, which is good. marble 2 turns later, so I'll use that to build the lighthouse, and another chop. would be nice to have another cottage city but we'll have to build farms here just to support the marble and hills.
I do wish we had less sheep and more grains/rivers. once we settle the western tundra city we'll have *5* sheep with just 12 cities. but just 1 of each grain. oh well, we'll have at least 1 of every health resource except clams naturally, and we're trading for clams. I actually need every health I can get now, for our super buro/soon to have an academy capital.
in 3 turns courthouse finishes in popol. also in 3 turns I'll whip a courthouse in maths and the aeneid, and whip the courthouse in mahabhrata in 4 turns. so expect graphs on commodore in 12 turns or so ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .

turn 156:
for humor:
![[Image: DjaNCdy.jpg]](http://i.imgur.com/DjaNCdy.jpg)
Ishtar is taunting the barb axe: his mother smells of elderberry
if you look closely you can see azza hasn't evacuated the area. his worker finished the chop and is building a cottage.

ok, so if I don't get another health, I'm growing it to size 16 then stopping. with the -1 health loss, it will have 5 food excess then, so I can take the riverside plains cottage from the iliad, work a plains mine, and give the wheat up to the iliad - which can grow or whip as needed, or work the 2 workshops for hammers. I say if, because Brick has a single banana now. we now have an excess wine (and another one within 10 turns) that im not sure what to do with. Brick is getting wine from serdoa in exchange for silks... anyway Im not sure if we want to blow him away for banana's.. we could also offer wine + furs for commodore's elephants, but a) no need to help commodore b) we don't really need phracts with maces around the corner, and we don't really need the happy either, tbh.

ok, I'm gonna squeeze a settler out of here after all. I have a worker on the plains forest and another on the 3rd ring grassland hill. both will have chops going into maths in 3 turns - a total of 67 hammers after the forge bonus. since I'll be size 8 at that point I think I'll be able to 1 turn the settler.
I have an excess of worker labor on this side of the map, so improving the new city seems a better thing for them to do than improve tiles in maths, king arthur, & el cid that won't be worked for another 30-40 turns.
since I haven't posted demos in awhile (we're at 70% science):
1. commodore built the great library. not a surprise, he built statue of zeus(aesthetics) so lit was only a stone throw away. we would have to have beelined lit before civil service (which I think he actually did, he isn't in bureaucracy) to beat him, so I don't feel bad about it. still want Lit after machinery, for the 2 epics. but we'll have 7 turns of max tax in anticipation of the academy ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
2. pindiscooter got a great prophet the old way (I assume from temples). ok thats impressive. so there's shrine #3, since they have the hindu holy city. they are getting back in the game quicker than I expected, tbh. scooter and pindi

Things look pretty good. Are you still moving forward on the mace attack? What's the power graph looking like?

thats the plan. Im slowly down slightly by building the settler in maths (with 2 chops) but trying to make up for it in other areas. I guess it depends how quickly azza can build maces. he isn't in slavery so I don't think too quickly. song of roland is developing faster than I figured (I whipped the courthouse in this turn, barracks will take 2-3 turns and I have a chop incoming, so it may have 6 maces by launch date. also building a mace in popol to overflow settler into, so...). trying to grow el cid but may have to use the whip to get the navy built in time.but i think i can build 10-12 maces in 10 turns which will give azza 5 turns of being able to build them - w/o slavery I don't think he'll be able to get more than 1-2 in iron maiden (maybe 0, he seems more concerned with defending A7x, and I'll be hiding my maces so he may not see the threat). Also, we have cats built and he doesnt ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
really hoping for judaism spreads in muse and/or the presets (unfortunately the living end already has hinduism).
serdoa always scares me with his massive MFG lead - so many workshops and food.

thats with 60% science - as low as I could go and still complete machinery this turn. I'll go to max tax for the next 7 turns next turn (thats when academy will be built). we should have a solid #1 GNP at that point ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
oh, look at this. we met xenu:
he must have passed through blink 182 (azza's canal city) - he has OB with azza. it still would have taken awhile ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
thats nice though, once I get the trieme built in shah I can focus on making contact with the eastern civs - merohoc, plako, slowcheetah, and not worry about xenu.
I did trade wines to him in exchange for banana (which we will need in 4-5 turns in gilgamesh) and his world map. world map didn't reveal anything new though ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif) .
also this:
we got immediately a +4 trade route in volsung and gilgamesh, and a +3 route in mahabrata. nice ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) . not sure how we have such a sustained peace bonus the first turn we made contact, but I'll take it.
Other non-picture notes of this turn:
- Plako whipped 5 times according to civ stats. I guess he took the azza plan, revolting into caste and Beuro?
- Commodore revolted into Beuro this turn, but not caste. I think he must have been close to finishing TGL and didn't want to lsoe it thanks to a turn of anarchy. if he micro'd it exactly and just got CS, good job ![thumbsup thumbsup](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
- both are good news.. we may be ahead of both plako and commodore in the liberalism race. not sure how we compare to slowcheetah or serdoa though.
- pindiscooter built their shrine the same turn they got the prophet. nice planning on that team, really ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
religion spreads among shrine religions are
judiasm 12% ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
hinduism 14%
buddhism 25% that sucks, serdoa must be getting a crapload of cash. we get 19 from 12% so I guess he's getting around 40 GPT?
btw, I can complete our quest now that I know we won't get TGL bonus. probably will come with library whipped into shah, and chopped into mahabrata.. I'm thinking free meditation will be better than +2 research in one of those cities, what do you think?
