A long time ago on a planet far far away....

If early happy is the limiting factor, I see Pyramids being even more important. +3 happy in every city that matters is pretty major even if you don't use specialists.

Yes, but Representation won't give more happiness than Hereditary Rule, so the +3 happy isn't a significant factor.

I'll try to do a proper update tomorrow.

Yes this game is still going on.

Everything is fine except that nobody really has room to expand so it's a lot like that FFH no-settlers game. Not bad, but not terribly exciting either. I'm not sure what is worth reporting, anyway.

Serdoa is a better player than I am, so I'm trying to figure out how to win despite that and his land advantage. I've made some questionable decisions so far, but overall things are okay. Pyramids should finish soon and I'll do a double revolt into representation-bureaucracy.

Plus it's only a matter of time before Barbarian comes after us with rifles.

EDIT: Eh, maybe I meant "day after tomorrow"?

I actually browsed thru this game yesterday looking for news. Happy to hear the natives haven't killed everyone yet. lol

Look forward to the report.

Yeah the natives are very peaceful. The citizens at Stover have noticed unusually scented smoke when the wind shifts northward.

Here's some teaser images. I'll try to put more up soon.

Stover, Tolkein and Clarke were founded relatively recently. There's still room for one more filler city in the west. I'll whip another settler soon.

I also plan to whip several of the forges soon and run an engineer specialist in most cities. I may also build the Colossus.

I don't think I can squeeze any more hammers into it next turn. banghead

So the switch to Bureaucratic Representation is going to be T101. The academy will be built in my capital on T105.

As you can see, everybody has dabbled a bit with wonders.

I think I'm doing okay right now. Most likely none of it will matter because Barbarian already has every single religion, Nationalism, etc.

Remind me... How were we supposed to compete with that?

Can research: Democracy, Gunpowder, Military Tradition, Replaceable Parts, Scientific Method.

At a minimum, it has: Astronomy, Constitution, Nationalism, Printing Press.

I'm pretty solidly #1 in GNP:

My military is all quechua and spearmen, but my opponents apparently have a much lower power rating than I do. I'm about to have better units available, too.
Why haven't my opponents adopted Hereditary rule yet? I seriously have no clue. This is probably part of the reason I've built a lot of cheap units and nobody else has.

Finished the Pyramids in Lucas. Next turn I adopt representative bureaucracy to go along with my decentralized pagan slavery.

Edit: And the turn comes in right after I posted this...

After the growth, it will stop working the food tiles.

By the way you could have worked the bare plains over the sugar to get another two hammers. wink

I know, but that still would have left me 2 hammers short.

My problem was that I didn't pay enough attention to the timing of everything early enough. By the time I realized Civil Service and the Pyramids could finish at (almost) the same time, it was too late to fully sync them with micro. I slipped in the worker (for whip overflow) to speed it up by a few turns, but still (barely) fell short of the target.

I haven't put as much effort into this game as I have in other games, and it shows. Plus, I've taken your advice and placed my cities closer together than I normally do, so the micro is a bit more complex than I'm used to.

As nobody has updated their thread in the past 6 weeks, I claim you ALL as my dedicated lurkers. Fwahahaha.

No, seriously.

I would have updated earlier but I didn't want to give Pegasus any clues. I didn't want him to notice this:

Details:

Better details:

I was going to bring more units, but Pegasus just researched Feudalism this turn. I unloaded my catapults from the galleys because I don't think I'll need them.
