I'm starting to appreciate Fire magic more, Expert Blind and Berserk both scale with the strength of the force you're facing and make it possible to farm treasure zone fights that would otherwise be deadly, like Jowy demonstrated here. Earth magic for Expert Slow is of course more commonly used to what is probably overall a stronger effect, but it noticeably falls off once you're fighting hordes of T6 and T7 units that are crossing the battlefield in 2 turns anyway and you can't kite them.

I tend to go for earth magic myself for the mass slow, but you are correct that it becomes less useful against the tougher enemies. Air magic is always fun for mass haste and chain lightning (if you can get it, and remember to avoid chaining to your own units duh). Expert air magic for mass blind is very very strong, though.
