I'll run it tonight with updated T24 micro and then see what I come up with afterwards.

The original spot with two chops is faster than my best attempt (so far) at 1S. I added it up and I was about 50H behind and about 50B ahead. The extra happy cap more than makes up for it though. Funny enough, its not worth settling in the old spot and whipping an Obelisk. That falls hopelessly behind.
I hope the continents are not completely symmetric. I really don't want anyone else to have Stone .

original spot with 2 chops? There are no 2 forests at the original spot?

That second forest is only accessible to the 1S position, not to the original rice city location.

I am sure I can do better than this because I wasn't watching tile yields super closely. Also, I decided to whip between 5 & 3 since the capital grew from 4-->5 in one turn, so that way at size 3 I worked a FP cottage for the commerce and the extra bread towards a worker which was generally a two turn build after the settler was whipped. I also 3-pop whipped one settler I think and put the overflow onto something.
Capital has a granary. Granary almost finished in rice city. Obelisk ready to be whipped in two turns at the corn/clam city. Settler ready to be whipped next turn at the capital.
There are five workers right now, and five river cottages, two of which matured to hamlets.
I prioritized getting that sweet 2/1/7 gems mine up. After Sailing, it raised the happy cap and gave huge commerce.
I didn't chop any forests. Math is probably due in about 5 actual turns.
Research is 43 and expenses -8. All cities have TRs.

I concluded the Gems were a red herring . From a chat with Krill I think he is leaning that way, although he wants to see the rest of the coast first. I didn't have time to put the last turn's report up, but the scouting Warrior revealed no new tiles.

Basically, it takes 4 worker turns connect the 1S spot, that is 1 cottage on the fp. So, losing 6 commerce just from trade routes, and then lose 2 commerce/turn from the cottage and delay growth of the cottage. On top of that you then have to hook up the gems but the second city will get slaved for the work boat so even if you dedicate a worker to hooking it up the gems won't be worked for a few turns. While working the gems would get you back in the game...the other tile that would be worked, an fp cottage, only gives, what, 4 less cpt at the start, but you gain back commerce from the growth of said cottage over the proceeding 30 turns. We don't need the happiness early, and we can feasibly settle the fourth or fifth city down for the gems anyway if there is a decent food res down there.
So...yeah, for once I'm going to suggest that we ignore settling for grassland gems.

Don't you have TRs automatically from Sailing? I researched it before Math because as is it will get researched before the border will pop to setup the stone quarry. Two worker turns on the FP near the fish city will hook up all coastal cities.
So your plan still involves settling in the original rice city location?

You won't have Sailing by the time you settle the rice city, so if you settle 1S there will not be a trade route. I have difficulty getting Sailing by the time I settled the third city in the sim as well.
I haven't done anything detailed yet because there is no reason to change the original worker moves, the tech path, or build order at the capital, so I'm waiting to see what the scouting warrior uncovers before deciding what I think is best.
