Cheater Hater, welcome aboard!

BaII, you are welcome to dedlurk along, in case one of us drops out. We also have Gavagai as a dedlurker, so unexpectedly Will Blunder (X/Y of Z) has a very well staffed team.

The game is currently down to 17 teams, so if anyone wants to join please do so as soon as possible, there is a spot open. We have voted for settings and are in the process of distributing leaders/civs currently.

I'd like to play if the last slot is still open. I wouldn't mind a teammate either if anyone's interested.

I think Jowy just mentioned he would like a teammate.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Hey Black Sword, the last spot is still open so you would be welcome to join us. (Or just join someone as a teammate like Bigger suggested if you'd rather). The game subforum is already set up, and the first post of the stickied settings thread shows the changes that the RB Mod that we use makes from the base game, as well as the settings players have voted for. If you're still interested then go ahead and make a game thread over there, we're just at the start of the leader/civ assignment process right now.

EDIT: I would say since this would be your first pitboss though, to make sure you would be able to handle the regular turn pace here too. It'd be nice if another player (especially a vet) would team with or dedlurk with you just to help secure the game goes on at a good pace (and working with someone can be fun), but it seems like most people are already playing or dont have an interest in this game, so that might not be possible.

I was a bit late to the party here, but I'm more interested in unmodded games anyway.

I'd really like to try another pitboss game at some stage though. Obviously with no double moves. (I have zero interest in playing in a game with double moves ever again after PB7, and I'm sure the feeling would be mutual.)

I'd be interested in playing a game with AI diplo. Seems like it'd cut down on a lot of time and effort, not to mention bad blood - and it might also be more self-balancing. For those that have played with it, what's your general impression been? Surely less onerous than full diplo.

A game kind of like Pitboss 11 or Pitboss 12 appeals:
  • Unmodded
  • AI diplo
  • No tech trading
  • No vassals
  • No spies
  • No double moves
  • Normal speed

Given the number of pitboss games running concurrently though, I suspect the pool of available players is rather shallow at the moment. Perhaps it'd be best to hold off and float the idea in another 3-6 months.

Most PBEMs we play are exactly like this, except quick speed (OK, some are AW). At this point it would be fair to say that most PBs are like this too. So, what I'm hearing is, you are interested in playing a civ game at RB at some point. wink

lol Pretty much. Just not a Pitboss 8 or 13 (modded), nor a Pitboss 9 (tech trading). And probably not a Pitboss 10 (multiple civ teams).

Another limiting factor is that for better or worse I'm kind of stuck with Pitboss. PBEM is okay and all, but games with only 4-5 players just don't really excite me. Too few possible outcomes. Also, I have a thing for big beautiful worlds. wink And those only work well with 10+ players.

Another thing that makes me less interested in PBEM is: I want the pressure of having to live with making a decision once and the potential to have to pay for making a mistake. I don't think anyone here is a cheater, but I know some people would feel no remorse at all about reloading a save from a PBEM if they misclicked a unit, and not feel the need to tell anyone they did so. And the spectrum of what they would justify as being okay would vary from person to person. I take the extreme straight and narrow position, and I'd be climbing uphill in a PBEM keeping all my minor misclicks. PB enforces the straight and narrow, or at least it should.
