A wasted opportunity. Oh well, if all goes well we'll still have something fun: socialist Sanders vs the billionaire.

A lot happened but I didn't really take good pictures last turn. I'll try to rectify over the weekend maybe with some extended thoughts in addition to extended visuals.

In the touch but you can't look department, we opened the turn to the following offer:

My original inclination as per usual was to decline the offer but Noble talked me into accepting. We got a lot of info but when REM gives his map to everyone else and mackoti boats our capital the turn before we complete Cristo Redentor, we're going to regret that. Well, not as much as usual, since the map is roughly mirrored. As in basic positioning is normal but as per usual, minor incongruities mean that our slice of heaven is slightly worse than the neighbor we uncovered. This bitching would be better if accompanied by good pictures, but well, nope. Anyway, the incongruities are that REM has a much better Richard Nixon equivalent due to his sheep being 1 tile closer to the iron and an additional land tile and the apparent thing is that we all have the same land but we each have 2 copies of a "unique" luxury. Of course, we have spices and silk, while REM has wine and incense, which are objectively better tiles any way you slice it. Dansgame

We also met our direct western neighbor in Dreylin. For whatever else the map doles out, you could do a lot worse than being the meat in a Dreylin and REM sandwich so you won't hear me complain too much. Kappa Here's sort of a picture of that.

Other stuff, we did worker stuff, exploration stuff, Taoism was founded in Nixon (which means our 2 turns of building culture there are largely wasted.) We discussed a lot of things during the turn, pink dots and the value of them, attempts at solving the map, which of our neighbors it would be better to settle up on, which of our neighbors we could expect to settle on us, what a reasonable border is, what we could do to encourage such a border, whether or not to kill Dreylin's scout with our rifle, the extent to which we would flip the table if we attacked the Explorer with the rifle and lost, how we could bring our odds over 99% to reduce chances of flipping the table, ways to discourage Dreylin from hanging out near us without having to kill his explorer, which of our opponents in previous pbems we thought re-rolled battles, etc etc etc. Unfortunately, we're conducting these turns over voice chat now, due to the value of screensharing in a pitboss vs pbem (#fuckpitboss) and so there is no trademark NobleGaspar chat to spit at you for these times when I don't record the turn well. We did think about streaming the turns or at least recording them so they could be uploaded in the future to watch so you guys got the appropriate experience but then decided that was way more work than either of us were interested in, so instead you get this boring report. So it goes.

I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Quick interlude from chat:

potential northern neighbor power rankings
1. donovan (brick gets praised for excellent mapmaking)
2. bgn (brick gets praised for solid mapmaking)
3. scooollllllaaaa (status quo, all normal nitpicking occurs)
4. mackoti (brick wakes up next to horsehead)

Come on now, don't be silly. mackoti does not need an ingame map to know where our capital is to boat it. wink

t257 - Pictures, We've Got Pictures

Here you can see we've discovered the sheep/Brickastley area of the north. This means we have another opponent's landmass relatively close to the NW. We should know soon enough who that is. It does appear from the orientation in that screenshot that it has similar resource spacing to us, so the REM iron area is the outlier rather than ours, which will keep our complaining about it to a modest murmur rather than a louder clamor. Swiftrage

You can see in the SW corner that Dreylin took the hint and did not move his explorer towards us. We moved our rifle in such a fashion which implies we'd like him to keep on keeping on and I think he'll do so. We'd like to get a something to scout the area between us relatively soon, since we need to make some decisions about which way we're moving quickly and knowing how Dreylin planted will definitely assist with that.

The are between us and REM. The tile denoted pinkest dot ever is actually most likely REMs next city location.

The area to the east of REM. You can see how REMs Edward location is superior to our Nixon location, despite being planted identically due to Brick placing the resources differently. An easy mistake to make with a handcrafted map, for sure. Still annoying. Dansgame

The northeast explorer, off to visit another player's blob.

The capital, up to size 4 at EOT, with the rarely seen flood plains watermill completed.

Nixon, which is really going to suck until it gets a dike, the Taoist holy city.

Tiger Woods, with the wheat newly farmed.

The demos, which tell us we're #1 in CY. WINNING BABY!!!1111
