How many times do you declare war in a single player game, that it would detract from your experience if you had to alt-click on the player and then click "yes" on a confirmation box?

Often enough especially as it is not 1 game but in every game. Over the years I have played enough CIV to find it very nice to have a way to declare war in one click without need for more confirmations.

The problem is more with the easyness you can misclick it.

Well, it's not exactly the reaction I expected:

Sullla Wrote:Honestly, we're not exactly interested in rushing to this guy's aid. slaze rushed out to 10 cities with extremely minimal defenses - what did you think was going to happen in a competitive MP game?!? The only reason he lasted as long as he did was due to most of the world fighting against us for so long. And it's not like we could really do much to influence a war on the other side of the world anyway, even if we were keen to step in (which we're not!)
I have to run.

It's strange that several teams now have mailed Spulla with complaints that India has been slow to respond to diplomatic communication. According to India they seem to be no worse for timely correspondence than any other team- perhaps their frequent forum updates have given the other teams greater expectations for prompt or immediate replies.

Yeah the 'sorry we didn't have time to respond sooner' is hard to believe if they have time to update their thread 34 times aday

"Just write back with your thoughts!" is what I think a lot of teams want to say to India, but instead are making less specific complaints about the timing of e-mails because it doesn't sound as rude.

India's desire to micromanage every aspect of their letters and turn them into excessively formal, obvious one-way streets in favor of themselves is by far the weakest element of their play.

Absolutely. And Sullla absolutely knows he's doing it - several times he's said "we're not sending this until after the current turn" in order to keep the recipient in the dark for moving on the current turn. And his partners aren't stupid, they know Sullla has plenty of availability to play clock games and hits the forum several times a day. So they've figured out that Sullla is intentionally delaying comms which hardly makes people want to cooperate with him.

Sulla's getting bashed quite a bit for diplomacy, but we have third-person omniscient perspective on the situation. Let's try and look at it from his perspective smile.

Not surprisingly given his background, he's approaching diplomacy the way nation's have historically approached diplomacy. Pure realpolitik. No attempt to build friendships, just use real or perceived mutual interests to achieve objectives. Timing a note is an acceptable tool. Tricky phrasing to imply one thing but mean another is an acceptable tool. Asking for much while promising little is an acceptable tool. It is the other party's job to recognize and react accordingly.

IMHO, if we read Sulla's analysis of letters received and his commentary on letters sent from that perspective, some of the criticism doesn't hold water smile.
