[SPOILERS - PBEM17] regoarrarr - Bismarck of Inca

The other interesting info is that apparently most (all?) civs have a jungly arm with gems and dyes (that's the left arm in our case). And krilljs ergo sum apparently settled on novice / spaceman's gems / dye site (on their main island). I had to LOL when I heard that - classic krill. That's going to be an important move and apparently it's going uncontested, but might explain why they've got open borders with them. If you think that krill and darrell signed OB without some sort of compensation, you're smokin the good smoke.

We already know that there is some sort of deal involving spreads of Hinduism for OB.

But I think that it probably goes further than that. At this point we may be skirting the lines of communicating, but a few days ago darrell asked me how many EPs it was so both folks can see the other's graphs (43, for the most part). So this is a leap in logic, but I bet that they have signed some sort of long-term cooperation pact (with one of the clauses limiting EP spend to 43 each).

If that is the case, then we definitely need to meet StM and Kyan, as fast as we can.

Oh and another good reason to keep that quechua stationed on our western arm, to "discourage" any poachers on OUR lands

Oh the other thing to note - we have 7 cities, novice/space and krilljs have 6 and Shoot has 5 (but larger)

From F8, we have 16.33% of the world's pop while n/s lead with 17% (though that's rounded, so it's from 17-17.99%

2 turns (T55 and 56) in today! thumbsup

We found the Straight talker city of Cash Cow. That got us trade routes with the Straight Talkers, which increased our economic power, so we should have Math in 4t now.

Novice also told us that Shoot the Moon has a workboat near his jungle arm, which is near our jungle arm, so I have diverted our wandering quechua to the end where hopefully they can meet up shortly

We got a note from Shoot the Moon

Quote:Regoarrarr,

Greetings from the Ottoman Empire. As I'm sure you will see next turn, my workboat has come across your warrior in the central spiral area. I hope all is well with your civilization. Congratulations on landing the Oracle and on expanding to seven cities already.

You are the fourth and final civ I have met. I understand you already know Novice and Spaceman as they helped me find your warrior, but may I ask if you have met anyone else? Also, in the interest of each of us gaining more map knowledge, would you perhaps be interested in trading map screenshots? Plako has certainly designed an interesting map for us.

If there is anything else you'd like to know or discuss, feel free to bring it up. Hopefully our relations in this game can be a bit more peaceful than in PBEM 8 wink

Quote:Hey Shoot the Moon!

Good to see you over here and I'm not sure what you mean about our relations in PBEM8 not being peaceful?!?? I thought we were the best of friends there! We have a national Mayan holiday where our citizens all travel to the mass Indian grave and put flowers on it. I thought that's what you'd want? :-)

In any case, I'm glad I stationed that quechua over on our left arm - it came in handy in meeting you for sure. And plus after hearing how the "krilljs ergo sum" team ( as I've taken to calling them) managed to poach a city site on novice's home island (!), I think we all have an interest in not seeing that happen.

We have not met any other civs besides Novice, and we only had met them a few turns ago. Apparently we must have made a wrong turn with our scouting boats - it's frustrating how one wrong turn or decision can drastically change the scouting and thus potentially the outcome of the game. Early contacts can often lead to early alliances, while a "late" player can get frozen out of things because many decisions have already been made before they were even on the diplomatic scene. Not as big of a problem in NTT games, but I'm already getting some "weird" vibes from the Novice / darrell pairing. It's hard to say for sure since I haven't met darrell, but there's at least some circumstantial evidence pointing in the direction of some pretty close relationships between those 2 guys. Since you've met them both and probably at least had some conversations with them, have you noticed anything like that? Maybe I'm just seeing things...

In any case, I think we would be interested in map trades - what areas would you like to see? I think we'd be interested in the lands to our west (and NW and SW). We do have a boat that is going to our NE, and currently is on the north Indian coast. Of course with this map the NE is also the SW smile. I guess from brief talks with novice, each civ has a home island with 2 snaky arms, and then a 4x4 island nearby? Plus 200 or so tiles on various islands scattered through the sea? Does that match with what you've seen?

The other thing we'd be interested in is directions to any units or borders of darrell or Kyan.

Hope to talk to you soon and I'm generally pretty available on Google Talk at this address

Quote:Rego,

I appreciate the national holiday, although I would have thought you'd be sending you scientists there to study the advanced technology of my units. wink

Diplo wise I wouldn't be too concerned at this point. You aren't terribly behind in contacts (and as I explain further down, can meet Kyan in a turn or two) and with NTT and everyone having their own continents I think alliances will be (and have been) slow to form. In regards to Spacenovice and Darrell, I haven't quite been able to get a read on their relationship despite having known the two of them the longest. I've gotten some mixed messages from them. As you note, Darrell took a city site on their jungle arm and mentioned to me that they had border tensions (I would sure think so!), but at the same time Novice and Spaceman are going to be going Hindu after getting a missionary (even though they had previously discussed with me getting a Buddhist missionary). Long story short, I haven't quite been able to figure out what is up there.

In regards to the map, that indeed matches what I've seen. I'm not sure whether or not you have seen it yet or heard about it, but everyone's jungle arms spiral together, eventually coming to a 1-tile island that is literally the center of the map (at least from what I've seen). Also, while discussing maps, I should tell you that you should move your warrior to the end of your jungle arm to meet Kyan in a turn or two. Kyan has a warrior near the end of his arm, and I've told him to move it to the end, where the two of you could see each other across water. If you want to meet darrell, I'd recommend either sending a workboat south around India's continent or sending one along your jungle arm through the center tile.

With screenshot trading, I'm most interested in what you have explored off your main continent and arm and also the lands in between our continents as we are neighbors. I've explored the central spiral area pretty well, but don't have as good of an idea of what the outer islands look like, so those are areas I'd particularly like to know about. What screenshots would you like to see?

I hope that covers everything. If I missed something or there's something else you'd like to talk about, feel free to chat or if I'm not around shoot me an email.

For planning porpoises

Turn 57, at BOT

plako: size 6, 11/21, 19/60 in library. 9fpt, 7hpt working corn, wheat, cows, engineer and 2 cottages
zakalwe: size 3, 10/17, 0/31 in missionary, with 20 base oveflow. 5fpt, 5hpt, working fish wheat and gold
mardoc: size 3, 16/17, 0/40 in lighthouse with 5 base overflow. 4fpt, 2hpt working gems, crab, and cottage
Sciz: size 3, 14/17, 20/80 in forge. 4fpt, 5hpt working 2 fp cottages and grass copper

We have math in 3 turns (T60).

I think the basic HG plan (subject to refinement) would be

T60: start duct
T61: whip duct
T62: overflow to HG
T63: whip settler (if we put 1t into it earlier)
T64: overflow to HG
T65: HG built

So any cities that we want to get the pop need to be founded on T64 (maybe T65 depending)
