Generic ideas for UB that could be adapted to one of the rebuilt civs:
- very cheap monument (easy to pop borders). Could buff with +food or +happy?
- additional specialists slots, maybe a forge with extra engineer slots (try to get more GEngineers. To rush wonders), or a jack-of-all-trades building that opens up one or two of each type of specialist slots. Could pair with philosophical without caste?
- unique palace? E.g. +1 each beaker/gold/hammer/food/culture/espionage(or smaller subset). That seems hard to value though.
General ideas for UU that could be adapted to one of the rebuilt civs:
- Axe or sword that starts with combat 1 promo, allowing it to take cover/shock with 2xp or formation with 5xp
- Caravel that does collateral damage to ships (or is naval balance too fragile for naval UU?)
- Medic unit that starts with medic 1 and/or medic 2. Maybe scout replacement? Maybe chariot replacement?
- Worker with combat strength
- super-scout with some combination of woodsman 2, guerrilla 2, and sentry
- workboat with transport capacity (admittedly of limited use, but can ferry the settler and then improve the fish). Maybe also allow it to cross oceans earlier (think Kon-Tiki)
- Warrior with meaningful combat bonus vs. animals and barbarians (but can’t be used to choke or rush). Maybe this would be better as a new promotion that could be granted to all units from a UB so that it remained relevant beyond the age of warriors?
Going off of the last option above, what about the following UB for Native America UB totem pole: Monument replacement cost 10H, grants “Ambush” promotion to all melee giving +50% vs animals and barbs, available w/o Mysticism (or make sure Mysticism is one of their starting techs). Gives Native America an easy way to pop borders and allows them to run lighter military early on. [EDIT: maybe make the totem pole even cheaper, almost like a free mini-creative trait]
