I think resettling the wheel was like a 10% odds (IE you expect Gav to stay in for no gain). I don't mind him settling the southern cities, but if doing so meant costing him 4 units that might have been enough units to not have to sign over a very important city for peace............
I was not alluding to anything. I find the question of when to build fishing villages such as that one, and how best to use it, really interesting. I have to hold my hand up that I have failed to use these resources in a suiotable manner and neglected them in some games, and in others I've used cities little better than that to build an empire.
In this instance I am mostly interested in the choice of lighthouse via a chop or whip or whatever, (which if not a right choice for Darius is never a right choice) versus working the fur for -1f +1h +2c and slow building, and the zig build etc. There is also the point of worker allocation.
I just find these decisions interesing in the microcosm of the city, and then branching out to the military and strategic considerations.
I actually liked nauf running up the peninsula. I thought it was a great play even with the uncertainty of Gav. But there is no way in hell that anyone is prying a city out of my hands and that is a noted fault of mine, and nauf is the complete opposite that is a fault of his. Danegeld must never be paid!
I think I could have held Uruk, but the amount of turns it would have taken Amica to walk into the culture would have given Gav another opening to rejoin and attack the empty Get to Heaven so Amica would have needed to consider committing his troops to Uruk when there was still another stack at his back which could either drive up the peninsula, or come back to threaten GtH or another core city.
If I felt tired I'd probably reoffer white peace.

In military news, I've pulled some units off of the border with Gavagai and shuffled them over to the west.

Surely, there is no way that moving units away will attract Gavagai's attention.
This game is so much fun atm.

Love the rabbit hole of mechanics is causing Amica to increase paranoia. Good job Krill.
Although... not sure why Gav would be logging in multiple times.

Gav is considering hitting Ginger. He has often wheeled around and fought everyone sequentially. He will not fight nauf as he knows he leaves himself open to Amica cutting him off and SD has nothing he wants anymore.
But given Ginger is about 5 turns from knights, I think Ginger whips himself into a hole and Amica with his newly extended lines into Uruk, rekindles the war into a 2v2, SD piles on and Commodore tries to just sit there growing pop rather than whipping units whilst he gets to obsolete Colossus with an Astro bulb path.
This game will devolve into brawls with tech stagnating.
God I wish people would play PB46 size maps sometimes.

Gotta love Nauf. "I will go to war with the one person who has been helping contain Amica because I want tundra deer and I don't think they helped me enough even though any attack at all wouldn't have been possible without them".
I don't think tech will stagnate, they are playing on Monarch....... PB46 looks huge......

I love this game. Its sad this probably means the end of it unless SD and Ginger coordinated attack is weirdly perfectly timed.

Yeah, this has been a treat to follow. When Gavagai breaks his silence, he really delivers the goods Meanwhile, Amica sounds convinced that all the logins mean they're gearing up for round two, so I wonder what he'll make of this latest development

This game is completely insane. The misreadings are everywhere. Gav thinks nauf is annoying him, nauf thinks Gav is annoying him, nauf and Amica both think the other is about to run away with things... and I haven't even been keeping a close eye on the other three.
nauf's logic for declaring war seems to be that a. Gav can not be trusted to show strategic sense so b. it's better to commit to a hot war or war/peace rather than settle into a cold war. He also thinks that Gav can't make any major gains against him before the Amica peace wears off. Which, uh, means that either Amica sits this out, or dogpiles in ten turns? Maybe? I don't know anymore.

I do find it funny that Gav pointed out how near-worthless the spot is and that Nauf is making a mistake because it's not worth fighting over... but then dug in his heels and decided to fight over it.
De-escalation can work from either side, and it's not like it's a massive concession for either of them. More entertainment for us I guess?

Its such a worthless spot to lose a game over........ I love how they both are super offended by the other.
This game is making me feel LOADS better about PB62. I got so much flak for maybe* placing a city 1 tile off and Amica first believes Nauf's city is a crazy plant and now there is about to be a war over a tundra deer......
