Going to go Rifles, and then build a ton of units while saving gold on something like education. Id love to finish education so i can begin teching like these 20 city monsters i have for competition.. but i really really need rifles in all my coastal cities, and then about 20 on the gavagai border, and the rest as cavalry to storm the Commodore front and maybe try and get a concession? ... not great chances being in the middle. heh.

Gavagai launched a GA and is 2turning Steel. Cannons will hurt me, and ironclads will safeguard his coast.. So what is his plan? Tech to a victory condition? Im probably 10t from rifles, and i have alot of pop that Could be spared...

Ive got a majority of my mounted force prepping for an assault on Commodore. It wont happen till i have a sizeable amount of rifles/cavs.. BUT i will be getting my military upto speed.

Commodore of course, found the stack so i slipped the knights down south to guard against Gavagai. He of course has been running Caste artists ( i just noticed he has been in caste ) in his border cities... so now he has control over the crucial gold. Also happened to notice that ALL my neighbors except Commodore, are running Merc. Ive got a golden age planned for about 12-13t from now unless a good bulb target arises. My border city finally could whip its 50% culture building... and is now building culture till it recovers that tile.

I think i can be first to infantry, and use that to steamroll Commodore. Otherways i could do that require i get into caste and have a Great artist spawn. Ill have to sim out how his border cities would fare versus a planted city + culture bomb on the border and what war opportunities that might give. Commodore has moved the majority of his stack from Alhazard's border to mine.. so he now has a total of 40+ cats.. id really like to slam some mounted units into that.

Continuing to bank on not getting attacked. Going to swap as much as i can to rifles/cavs once these banks and other junk are done.

Dont have a terribly large amount of production compared to the other powers, so im hoping to tech towards Railroad for basically unbeatable defense. The rest is just getting a stack of mounted units ready for the inevitable either Gavagai invasion, or my own invasion of Commodore.

Im officially conceding to Gavagai unless Alhazard has a GREAT comeback. But without his capital ( i think thats where Mids were ) he is finished as a tech power. He didnt research far into the naval tech area, and is saving gold/teching Scientific method? He is pretty far from rifles, and Gavagai looks like he is setting up to raid my few coastal cities ( i spent like 600 gold to upgrade some rifles in threatened cities ) and i just cant compete with gavagai's land OR his position on the map. Really wish this would have been like a donut map script or something... being monkey in the middle kinda blows.

All-n-all besides obvious map "balance" i think the only real mistakes i made during this PB is not choking and killing chumchu earlier. I could have maybe gotten to currency instead of HBR, and used that to pressure Gavagai early so that he couldnt use his OP swords to destroy mali. Overall i dont think i did terrible considering my land/neighbors so ill take this as a sorta-win. I feel i handled the end game better in this pb compared to say, PB40 where i was having a ton more fun being a contender.
