[No Players] Where the Lurkers Take Their Holidays

(April 17th, 2024, 21:34)Mjmd Wrote: T131

Both SD and Civac finally noticed I don't have much natural happy and offered me happy deals this turn. But I am only two turns away from hooking up my 2nd happy resource in silver. Its mattered a little.

If only there was a technology that Mjmd could have taken with the Oracle to help with happiness.

I must admit to giving this game a wide berth, but I doubt I will ever forget a player Oracling a tech that was cheaper than the wonder.

My basic take on SD's horcher desert plan is that... it's probably still a better idea than Oracling Masonry?

I love a good meme play. But it is a meme play. It's going to take 14 turns just to what, burn a size 5 backlines city you couldn't possibly hold? Not to mention the high likelihood it gets spotted.

Would love to know if the raze gold is even worth 1/3 as much as the unit supply for the whole expedition.

What new clownery is THIS?

I guess it's good for the lurkers, as empowering Naufluger and Illjub helps counterweight the SD/Ginger runaway pair, but this seems...so weird.

Still less weird than Oracling Masonry.

I’m still not sure what GT intends to do with those units. A sneak attack to raze some naufragar cities?

I had thought those Workers were building that long desert road to reestablish trade with the outside world now that both his neighbors were at war with him. A fun consequence of the huge wasteland area of this map.

There is probably not enough time before elimination to reach a Naufragar city along a sneaky route. And if GT just wanted to hit something, anything, and leave his mark on the game, then he could have done it to Mjmd. So either this is an ill-conceived sneak attack (most likely), or it is a more calculated attempt to leave a mark on the game by hitting Gavagai. Less warning, perhaps some help from Mjmd, maybe Gavagai owns a city that is a better prolonged last stand location.

In GT second PB I think (CF PB89) he was quite successful with a sneak attack - and even a dozend turns later with a second.

But this was a shorter way.

I choose to believe it's an AI Survivor shout-out.

Shouldn't naufragar just demand he get Gondar and Aksum? Knights eat ljub's stacks raw, and with the cities in revolt they get straight to the dinner table. I guess make has to guard his rear against the inevitable sd stab, but still, does he have to let Zulu getting the main prize so easily?
Fwiw SD has stopped reporting, but I think he has lost his runaway and even contender status with that catastrophical Gavagai war. And I'm not sure he's at a tech level where he actually poses a big danger to nauf?

Finally, lol at those power ratings on Mjmd's scoreboard

Nauf can absolutely claim those two cities. He just needs to turn up with a fully healed stack and nothing Ljub can do to oppose to with his stack construction now he lost those units clearing out the retreating stack.

The better question is if Ljub should even try to take the cities. He is in a pretty bad spot. Can't contest to the south west because he will be over extended and borders Ginger drafting muskets at some point.
