What about spear moves NE and the axe on the bananas moves to 1S of the gems? Then if the barb moves to the junglehill in between (W of the gems) the axe kills it; otherwise the axe covers the spear on that hill.

Not sure if the axe is needed otherwise besides that, but if it isn't that could work. The axe is only out of our borders/off our road network for one turn there.

Well moving the axe off the banana exposes it to jungle growth, so we should avoid that if possible.

I suggest NE, and if the barb follows, then E. My intuition says the extra 25% defense from that hill will push over the next breakpoint in the combat odds. Haven't simmed it though.

Sulla, thanks for reporting so diligently. Also, nice job on the Dutch LetsPlay, well paced.

Edit: NE - SE is just as good for defense, and gets us closer to home if the barb movement allows it...

I think NE. Odds are the Rice Barb probably moved towards their city and they might be getting ready to killed it.

I agree with NE.
If no one objects, I can try to contact the Germans, informing them about the situation and asking them a) about the location of the Worms barb from last turn and b) about permission to flee through their territory if necessary.

Is that rice jungled? How about settling this red dot with our t92 settler from MM? We have a border agreement with CFC, after all. (Btw, should we ask CFC where they plan to settle? Would be good to know if we need to culture war for the fish.) We can settle red dot, and work the spices claimed by FF's border expansion while waiting for red dot's borders to expand. We'll have three workers hooking up the forested spices that should have time to road to the city and preimprove the jungled spices. Then chop the forest 1W of red dot for an instant granary.

The barb city fits quite nicely into this dotmap. Having no overlap, it also fits as a border city for CFC though, albeit an exposed one. Diplo team, thoughts on how to handle this?

im pretty sure from the pic that the rice is NOT jungled. you can see by comparison - the rice SW, W of your yellow dot is jungled.

AFAICT its unjungled.
I dislike that place as it has no good inner ring tiles (not including the spices) and will take a lot of worker-turns to improve.
Moreover, the borders will have only just expanded t82 and will have little time to improve the spices (I haven't seen the micro so I can't be certain).

It should also be noted that its in the same line as the oasis and therefore (possibly?) not allowed.

Okay, our settling agreement with CFC does not extend to a spot which is closer to WPC's capital than anyone else. We didn't sign the Treaty of Tordesillas, don't be ridiculous.

Anyway I'm actually really tempted to settle that city 1E to grab the dye. You make a good point about that inner ring forest and being able to work the spice tile before border pop though. If we can get a quick third ring that could be a good compromise.

I don't think we should settle that city that soon. WPC is at war and is unlikely to expand into the jungle in the meantime. I'd much rather plant the CFC border city first, preferably 1S of the oasis as indicated by my "ideal" dotmap, but 1S of the corn would be adequate as well. We could also go for SW of the oasis and then 2S of the corn.

Hmm... I'm coming around to that as a site.
Won't it grow to size2 on t100 though? (2 turns before border expansion, presuming spices improved instantly).
Still feels a bit jungle-choked, though.

NH I wasn't presuming it would include it, just making a note of the technicalities of the matter.
I agree that the corn area is definitely higher priority.
