[SPOILER] Where the Green Things Are - PBEM 33 Lurker Thread

scooter Wrote:Conspiracy Theory: the music man is someone playing and writing under a pseudonym, pulling a Sullla-Locke trick.
Argh, thanks for the ethical dilemma. I can look at the IP access logs for any evidence to that end. Of course I'm fiendishly curious, but I shouldn't be putting myself at risk of blowing his cover inadvertently...

Also, T-hawk, can you please capitalise teh T in "the" in the thread title? I screwed that up with a typo...

I dunno, but FWIW, if a more experienced player were to do that I'd think it was bad form to trick some new forum posters in that way.

It's lowercase in the original, so you're not wrong. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_the_Wild_Things_Are

Music is a young lad called Floyd. He's one of the kids that i look after for my voluntary work. I introduced him to civ and then RB so he's giving it a go. I admit i assisted him in picking the civ/leader as i figured he was already disadvantaged by going last (and therefore outside the random order for picking) but i won't be helping him otherwise.

He's pretty terri-bad so i dont expect much.

Cool!

My only reason for the conspiracy theory joke was the writing style of the language was obviously a native speaker (correctly phrasing things and spelling tough words correctly), but it also was obviously not very clearly written which could be easily faked. Though if someone used a pseudonym for one of these, it'd be pretty lame to do that to play in a Greens game so I figured it was just coincidental.

My money's on Brick. I think off previous evidence Sian is probably the most skilled player here but I think Catwalk will muddle the issue as per normal. Azza's my second choice.

For the life of me I can't figure out why people keep picking Lizzie. Cheap Oxford doesn't make up for the complete anti-symmetry, IMO. I'd much rather have Mansa personally.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I don't think he's doing anything intentional, but you're right that it reads slightly awkwardly. This is a big deal to him so maybe he's nervous.

Since this is the lurker thread though, I can share some of his thoughts as he's been regularly detailing them to me lol. His plan is based around trying to find and conquer whoever builds the Pyramids using his War Chariots. I asked the obvious question about the potential for the builder being far away but the answer is that chariots can move quickly so this is no problem.

I would ask for a level of patience with him as he will likely read this thread after the game. He is a new player and this is a greens game so if you do see a mistake and want to point it out, by all means do so, but please try to be constructive. I'm very wary on helping him actively during the game and will be as detached as possible to maintain the integrity of this game. If the level of play by the others is beyond that which you can reasonably expect from a greens game (which, I as well as anyone else, know can happen), then I might seek your opinion here of whether I can give a few pointers to ensure his presence in the game is not a distorting factor.

Lizzie is great! I think you are downplaying the strength of philosophical. It's far more than the cheap Oxford. I know it was massively overrated for the longest time but I think it has perhaps gone too far the other way now. I'd still rate it above spiritual personally.
