PBEM41

I really like the system we're using in PBEM37, and I think the above simplification would work well (we have a number of proposals, including OB stuff and war declarations that might get a little confusing down the line). It allows for minor cooperation and better signalling than standard AI diplo. It also takes minimal time.

I'm cautiously interested in playing, depending on the setup. I really like the above diplo system, fine with everything else. I think balance could be an issue, not so much because I'm afraid of losing but because I might unintentionally give my neighbours an unfair advantage by sucking. It would be nice if the map could address this to an extent so weak players give everybody an advantage rather than their neighbours. The most interesting games to follow seem to be the ones that have a pretty even skill distribution. But if you want to try an uneven game with handicaps, that could be a lot of fun too. I don't think an uneven game without handicaps would be much fun personally.

I'm not sure how to do a rebalanced snake pick. Have the game admin decide on civ/trait bans for each player?

umm not sure now. looks like i might be the whipping boy now

Well, what if you get to play Pacal of India and mackoti plays Charlemagne of America? lol
Kyan, would it be possible to simply have the players agree on civs and leaders? Ideally, that would accomodate personal preferences.

I'm not in charge, we're a democracy. I don't care if you and Music pick mine and Mack's civs for us. I doubt Mack will either.

Well, are you all interested in a 4-player game like that? We would all agree on reasonable civ/leader traits for everybody, taking preference and skill level into consideration. Keeping it 4p would also help with the turn pace, 6p in PBEM37 was a little too ambitious.

dont we have 6 interested? but if twinkle only wants to play as part of a team, maybe he could be my special advisor -would stop him helping kyan haha - and we have 5 civs:

mackoti, kyan, nakor, catwalk and musicman - in ability order i think

I'd be down for a no diplo game.

Other settings I'm not too fussed on (although I would strongly prefer no nukes...had that experience once already here).

I'd agree on that.

Unless TT is interested, which I don't think he is (please correct me if wrong), that's a roster of:

Kyan
Mackoti
Musicman
Catwalk
Nakor
Shootthemoon

That's a full 6 if so.

My understanding is that Catwalk and Musicman want some kind of handicap in place. If that's the agreed consensus (fine with me), how do you want to work that?

Offtopic from that though, we could do with a mapmaker. We also need to decide a map set-up. My proposal is something we haven't done as far as I know- Continents. Perhaps with islands mixed in?
