I actually did think about it. But any kind of online persistent game is a bad idea for my lifestyle. I'm way too obsessive about checking in constantly and thinking about the game all the time. Succession games are about as far as I ever want to go.

It's arguably a good way to break that behaviour. That or burnout.

Yeah, I can understand that. At least Civ 5 has less things to think about than Civ 4 . There's still time for you to change your mind too, since I think it'll be a while until we find a 4th player.
And if you ended up playing, I believe we'd be getting a lot more lurkers and people interested in Civ 5.
And what says you, Krill, any interest?

I have G&K and all DLC, so no concerns there.
