Wow... restricted leaders are off, right?
My first immediate thought was reroll the hell out of this, but it's not my final decision.
Let's review:
Fishing + Mining are good but situational. If we get a fish in the BFC it's off to the races. RBMod has hunting and AH switched up, so we wouldn't get screwed on an animal start, unless it's deer. Hunting is a mandatory early tech now it seems... even horses require it. So I don't like that we have no food tech unless we get a seafood start. We also only have 90 beakers to start, 40 for fishing and 50 for mining. Agri, wheel, and now hunting are 60 beakers, so we're a little behind on research from the word "Go". If fishing is not needed (extremely possible) then we're very behind.
So relative to BTS, I think Rome's techs are relatively worse. Mind you they're nowhere near as bad as BTS Arabia.
The Praetorian is now strength 7. Are they even good in RBMod? Especially without Aggr, having to go for iron to pay more for a unit that flat-out loses to an axe seems a bit much. They're still archer crushers, but having to get iron early is a huge gamble, and we might not even have it near!
The forum gets a buff to 35% Great Person points. This basically means a specialist produces 4 instead of 3. This is ok, but we have no synergy for it. I can't get too excited here.
ORG now get double production on Libraries. This is nice!
IMP gets a very mild buff, 60% production on settlers instead of 50%. Cheap customs houses are just a fun change and pretty pointless. I'm not sure this is enough to make it a good trait. It saves hammers in the cities building settlers, but what you really want is to save them in the settled cities, since getting ahead of the growth curve early will snowball the city forward.
So I'm leaning pretty strongly to reroll (but not in bold yet). Plunder, do you have any desire to lurk a Rome / Rome thread?
