The save file you have selected......

That seems really odd, but it does make sense.

I had no problem with Adv3, but I have NTFS for my file system.

They're on it.

I have no idea what any of that means, its just nice to know that someone knows what the problem is. I think I'll wait for a patch 8)

The game probably makes some queries on the NTFS attributes to figure out if/when it has been changed last. If you're not using NTFS, it makes sense that it would not be able to discern if the file was changed, and so it returns a "changed = true" or whatever

BTW, second post on the site - this post doesn't really contribute much to the discussion, but it was a good excuse to say hi! smile

Actually its simpler than that... the file check code relies on having the files it checks in sorted order.. and the filesystem will return them in a sorted order already so the code dont sort them...
Problem is NTFS returns the files sorted by name, while FAT32 returns the files sorted by date.

[quote: Ainwood]The best bet is to wait for the problem to be patched.

If you want to do it now, your best best is actually to convert your Hard Disk Drive from the FAT/32 file system to the NTFS one (assuming you have Windows XP).

After you've converted it, you shouldn't get the assets problem again (or if you do, a reinstall should fix it).

Not working for me... cry
Must be my laptop itself... NTFS is on both Hard Disk Drives, Game runs fine with all the other saves, just not with a protected one...
cry cry cry cry

So, where's that Patch for the Patch, so I can play some more Epics ???
Where's the next Adventure ?
(what do you mean. There are still three open ? Yes, and ???? Isn't this only about entertaining ME ?)

1: There was no need: NTFS was on my system from the Beginning. frown
2: Yes: three times by now... German Version, English Version, English Version... frown

But no use... There must be some codeline like "If User=Herbie -> don't run with no cheating options..."
lol

funny.... they don't even know me...

So I will patiently wait... and bite my nails all the Time...

In addition to the fat32/ntfs problems, there is a problem if you have any extra files in the directories.. like you you made changes to any files and made backup copies.

These extra files will make the checksums fail, and they are not automatically deleted if you uninstall.. so if you uninstall and there is still an assets dir remaining, then there is probably some extra files in them that cause problems if you dont manually delete/move them.
