Does it need correcting? You can set up the infrastructure to burn coal without having any coal to burn.

since you don't get the power bonus w/o the appropriate resource, it makes more sense to me that you could only build the power plants if you had the resources as using the improvement requires the resource

Yeah, being able to build coal plants threw me for a bit too. (At least they don't seem to pollute if they aren't burning anything.) I didn't pop any resources out of mines. Funnily enough, I also ended up on Future Tech 2.

Actually, I'm surprised Ky was only 4 turns ahead as I didn't expand past my half of the starting island at all.

I went future tech 2 also - first time I did, and was curious to see what the pop-up thingie looked like. Funny how many did this.

Hi,

finally, some pictures - bad quality, and only very few. Sorry for that! My Epic 2 report will be a full-fledged, highly-detailed one again.

My first three cities, closing off the border (and I would found one more city towards Saladin):

After my capital was building wonders all the time, my other two cities built settlers and military. Filling in the eastern half of the landmass lead to a slight overexpansion.

My economy recovered while I built catapults, but I declared on Saladin a bit too early - my economy couldn't really afford to maintain more cities, but I wanted to get rid of Saladin while he only had archers.

This was my empire some turns before launching. I think the two cities on the island hurt more than they helped; I had founded them too late to make the productive in time.

I actually ended up with my second most productive city on the north island, as it was able to use all three rices to easily fuel all water mills/cottages on the other tiles. It also flipped Saladin's two cities he founded there, and those cities were just coming into their own at launch. Also built two more cities on the island further north that also came together late (abused pre-patch Kremlin whipping there), and a city to the far west of the main continent with two pigs that was decent (I never fought with Saladin, so that was all I got). Looks like early war was better than pure peace though, as I doubt I could have launched pre-1910 even had I not flubbed the timing.
