That is 4! I say lets wait until friday or saturday to see if we get a fifth, if not just go with the 4 we have.
Some quick questions so that I can let cornflakes know map parameters and turn order.
What time zones is everyone in?
Are there any concerns to turn order, or is it ok to just setup so that time zones align as best as possible?
How would you like to go about civ pics? A random set for each person or last in turn order picks first? Does everyone have all the DLC?
I am in eastern time zone so my play times would be in the morning and after work.
10:00am GMT - 1:00pm GMT or 10:00pm GMT until i head to bed.

In answer to your questions:

- I'm on the US East Coast. My turn window is generally 5:00pm - 11:00pm EST (2100 to 0300 UTC once the clocks go back), though I could get in short (early game) turns in the 6:30am to 7:00am window (or if I miss the evening window).

- Turn order should probably line up in time zones. PBEM 5 sorted everyone by time zone and then picked a random spot in the list to start the game, IIRC.

- I've got all the DLC.

- For civ picks I like the "here's three, pick one" method. We could choose to do something like include one of the DLC civs in each player's list or continue precedent and leave the DLC's out of it. It's an open question as to whether we know each other's lists ahead of time or find out the civ picks as the game starts.

- I don't have any real preferences for map type. Abundant vs. normal resources was looked at in depth in the PBEM 3 org thread. There seems to be a preference in the PBEMs for new world age for the higher number of hills. 2 CS per player seems to be the norm as well, though if there's only four of us I think we could increase it to three.

Cornflakes, do you have a copy of the summer patch version of the AssignStartingPlots.lua file? The fall patch version has borked the start positions and it might be a good idea to revert to that file version to generate the map.

- Turn order sounds good, i can ask cornflakes to pick the first player when we have the list of all play times.

- Civ picks also sounds good to me, i can also ask cornflakes or some one else to populate a 'fair' set for every one.

- Pangeae with 2 cs per player seems good, and 3 if we only have 4 players sounds good to me. I also like the new age setting for more production and abundant resources is fine.

- No huts and barbs on prince?

Does this look like a good list to pull from.

1 America / Teddy Roosevelt
2 Arabia / Saladin
3 Aztec / Montezuma
4 Brazil / Pedro II
5 China / Qin Shi Huang
6 Egypt / Cleopatra
7 England / Victoria
8 Persian† / Cyrus
9 Germany / Frederick Barbarossa
10 Greece / Pericles
11 Greece / Gorgo
12 India / Gandhi
13 Japan/ Hojo Tokimune
14 Kongo / Mvemba a Nzinga
15 Russia / Peter
16 Indonesian† / Gitarja
17 Australian / John Curtin
18 Khmer / Jayavarman VII
19 Macedonian / Alexander
20 Polish / Jadwiga

I do have a copy of the assign starting plots file (made sure to back everything before I started experimenting with the scripts tongue ). Weekend sounds good to me. I can post civ options on Saturday morning eastern time US, and give you about 30 hours to pick the civs while I set up the rest of the map and get the starting save out Sunday evening.

What size map? I'm assuming Small small if 5 players, tiny if 4 players? Let me know any other map considerations and preferences. Generalities are better since after all I will be picking the best of a few randomly rolled maps wink

The civ list looks good, but given how some of the DLC civs are perhaps the list should be split into "base+aztec" and "DLC", with each of us getting two from the first and one from the second?

I am located in the US Central timezone.

No concerns about turn order.

Whatever everyone else decides on civ picks is fine with me, but I haven't purchased any of the DLC. If someone else really wants to use them, I suppose I could get it, but if I had my druthers I'd stick to base + Aztec.

Anyway, my turn windows would be in the mornings before work and the afternoons after - I think Central is GMT-6, that's GMT 12:00 - 13:00, and then 21:00 - 3:00 or so.

I've got no problem sticking to base + Aztec - do we want to addSpain, France & Norway back to the list or leave them off?

As far as DLC is concerned if all players have / can have that would be great. If however me and suboptimal are the only ones with the content then i have no issues just going base + aztecs.

5 civs and 10 cs on small is good.
4 civs and 12 cs on tiny might be a little to crowded

Depending on the final verdict for civs i agree that each of us will get one DLC pick random or community based with the others just being excluded.

Apologies for htis guys, but I'm going to ahve to withdraw from this game. I just became a Red Cross volunteer and in the upcoming weeks the time I thought I would have is not going to materialize.
