Yeah, maybe so. He did consider in thread and as I recall he was motivated to try to cut off some Carthage production before TBS had time to react versus telegraphing everything via 5t of whips...

I would have waited till cuirs if i was that close.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow.

That would be close to kingmaking IMO Naa, he has no chance of winning now, so the TBS cities do him less good for his new game objective than immediate peace does. If he only offered two of the cities TBS might not go for the deal. (I'd probably have offered two on the basis that TBS would haggle if he didn't like the deal, but I can see why he didn't.) If CF had waited until he had 15 Cuirs TBS could have built 6 extra pikes from the build queues CF denied. I don't know if I'd have waited or not. What's really amazing here is how TBS managed to get Scooter to torpedo himself. The guy's a genius... ![]()

I agree that offering back what he took in this war makes some sense, but if he would offer also cities he captured before that would be way too much.
Looks like Scooter was hoping for nice and limited war with sniping nice city with no hard feelings and we know how those turn out.

TBS was willing to give up a city for peace a couple times before, so it’s not without precedent this game. Cornflakes seems much more willing to hold a grudge.

I certainly don't agree that he should act as if he has no chance at winning, otherwise that attack was really stupid and he shouldn't have done it. He barely had any units at scooter's border - if this result meant that he would immediately lose, why did he attack?

Scooter seemed to be occupied with Commodore and Cornflakes felt he had one shot at using his tech lead to get the land together to compete with the two leaders. I thought he had a respectable number of units over in the east, but obviously not enough to cope with the cream of Scooter's army.
I'd be interested to know how you think CF has a path to victory without The Great Lighthouse and the Mids? We had a thread a while ago about how you should play when you think your chance has gone, IIRC taking your in-game grudge out on another player was roundly approved of.

I think that implies that said player without winning chances has a reason to begrudge one player much more than anyone else. Just choosing a random player and making his life as tough as possible is not cool. Not saying that's necessarily what's happening here, but just clarifying because I don't want any other lurkers to get the wrong idea for future games.
Yes, I think Cornflakes left a big opening for scooter to attack and then is immediately blaming him for everything. I don't agree with that.
The lost wonders were GLH and MoM, not the Pyramids.

Did Scooter really think he can just burn/capture 2 core cities and call that "border adjustment" and assume that Flakes is ok with it? If you attack someone in such a manner where you basically end or at very keast hit really hard their chances of winning hou better be ready to finish the deal and not expect peace.
