[Mjmd #60] Why even buy toys for kids?

I feel like this is a mistake to take.......... so I took it. Amica doesn't have a lot of siege down near SD nor any slow mover stack I can see. I'm  hoping gets overconfident and SD can get some good hits in (whereas Amica wouldn't invade if I stayed at war). I also could use 350g (about 1.5 turns of income) and 10 turns peace to build.

BTW hate that SD taking Beds caused it to lose 1st ring tiles. I'll resettle 1S, which will get all the important tiles anyways.

Amica razed an SD city on other border I can hopefully resettle.

Amica flashing a cannon to sow fear. I mean what do I have to fear? This game is probably over. I think we have less chance than PB56. Amica has all the econ combos going and a lot of cities. HOWEVER, I really regret not withdrawing my concession in BP56. I'm up for the fight as long as Jowy is.

SD....... has 6 galleys near my border city and I think some of his elephants disappeared? I sent my stack back into his territory to arrive at end of peace treaty. Hopefully show my good will.

Jowy lost a border city to Amica, not sure how serious that situation is. Does have frigates in the water atm.

I'll have some random thoughts in two turns when I find out if I got the 70% dice roll on the GP.

For the 3rd time this game, I failed my high odds roll on a great person........... Got a merchant.

The only funny thing is I think with the enforced peace with Amica and merchants being able to enter enemy territory I can actually get it to Tuna. Turned on tech this turn /shrug.

That being said next great person is in 16 turns...... which feels like too long.

Random ramblings:

I was talking to Bellarch in PB61 about how I felt in this game like I maybe should have gone GLH due to the map. Like maybe I was too static in my thinking (IE I choose industrious with plan to go oracle > MC). Thinking about it a lot more though, I feel like until I obsolete it colossus was actually better. So I was trying to figure out major things I could have done differently.

I feel like the main key was the map sadly

It actually helped firm up my pick away from Victoria (Imp/Fin).

So with it being stated as a lower tile per player 120 or close to, I think most of us chose stuff for speed (and industrious for fun to be fair). However, it was actually a pretty large map with long safe areas making the tiles / player deceptive. I'm not shocked the two top players are the slower, but more economic combos. Industrious is having to do all my heavy lifting and sadly my great people have been popping poorly. I actually originally didn't like the 2nd ring fishes, but in hind site I kind of like how it helped out the creative leaders as creative would otherwise have been a junk trait.

SD: never start next to SD lol. I mean he got screwed in his pick even more than me. We had our little tussle early. Then instead of holding Amica back SD decided to spend the key lazteuq collapsing turns making sure neither of us was relevant. I don't even blame SD for the initial attack as it was probably his best chance to expand maybe? But then once it became clear he couldn't make progress he could have abandoned city and we could have stopped Amica.............

That was exactly my reasoning for that placement, although there's one of them I probably should have removed. I did try to use the map to balance out the traits somewhat, and I think it sort of worked.

Given the layout, you were always starting "near" SD on this map, but you drew the "nearest" slot.

Gotta love back to back to back stupidity.

Last turn, forgot caravels couldn't enter opponents cities if no open borders and dropped merchant off wrong because I tried to move a caravel into one and of course it just moved the merchant..... Anyways was like OH duh, well I guess I'll just use on the capital.

This turn. Logged in, went back out to check I was right and great merchants can't do anything while fully moved (they cant). Logged back in fully intending to use merchant first. Declared war for some reason because I really wanted to use my worker scout............. I guess???? SO ya deleted the merchant because I'm an idiot.

Also, Charriu please move Statue of Zues to Rifling. I was going to build for great people points and forgot it obsoleted at gunpowder......

Stupid on stupid on stupid. Anyways, going to try to get SDs city back next turn. Amica doesn't have any collateral in range so instead of throwing knights away going to use a bit of collateral.

Edit: is it intentional that you can't build wonders for fail gold and obsolete while in queue?

Edit edit: I'll bet Jowy city of Amiya gets razed by Amica at some point. Size 15 city in range of a morale general with just an axe on defense....... Not that I can talk of  smoke at the moment.

Um is Jowy still up for the fight? I'm definitely not asking to hook someone from this game into the new pitboss.

It looks like Amica figured out that having a huge power advantage on land was useful.

Since lurkers didn't respond I reached out to Jowy trying to very casually ask if his statement in tech thread was a concession. Ive scouted a bit and it doesn't look like he can stop this (amica has another stack to west which razed 2 cities as well). There isn't anything north of Silver Ash.
