Nauf is a buffer for Comm and Ginger is tastier hence the focus.

I mean ya Commodore shouldn't touch Nauf. My main point was that yes Ginger with his wonders might look more appealing but I don't see how Commodore pushes past the first city without Gav swooping in from the other side. Now if the goal is just to slow Ginger down / inflict hurt that is different. If the goal is to take cities, there are 3 up by Amica that a couple triremes and 5 galleys could probably take. Now since Amica isn't currently in a war it might make more sense to injure Ginger or maybe Commodore thinks Gav is coming in. It might also make sense to happily tech and build away yourself considering you still have filler spots to settle and Ginger doesn't.

AHHH Commodore isn't going for a injuring blow, he is going for a crippling blow and going to try to use hill raiders to raze valuable targets.

First thought is that he brought too few units.
Then I looked at the picture of the cap from a few days ago and Civac saying pure WE builds.
Comm might actually pull that off...

Nauf kind of reminds me of SD. "Oh you didn't do EXACTLY what I thought you should do; death to you forever".
That being said, it is possible he gets to pick up more cities and more 'safe' cities in a gav split. AS LONG AS Gav acts like a reasonable defender vs just hating Nauf for the backstab, because you know they were allies.

Gav has to defend his Mids city above all else and probably starve to rush construction.
Commodore needs to back out. Civic has rightly figured out he needs to block the hill to defend the capital and with 6 units I think Com will fall short.

Arent the 6 going for the holy city? Is there more than the axe seen and welly completing there? Dunno if the 6 can take it, but unles there are reinforcements in range from the south, the capitol cant send troops. Guess icy veins has Com landing, risking an exchange on the northern stack and holding out for more than 10gpt peace.

I love how Gav is worried about Amica's whips. While Amica sounds like will be joining war, those whips are actually courthouses from the sounds of things lol.

I think Gav might breathe easier after the turn rolls and he sees no power spike from Amica's whips (not sure if he has scouted the cities and would spot the courthouses). It's also not clear to me if SD is still committed to taking the Pyramids city, or has changed his mind. Either way I doubt Gav will ever be able to trust him this game. Dangerously slippery diplomacy all around, gotta love it

Going to put thus here for posterity: I think Com is taking a risk going for Compass over Enginerring.
Ginger is already ahead in tech and has greater production available for naval units so Com will struggle to fight and win on the waters. But if he were to rush Engineering and put up castles he gets the extra trade route income, pikes and most importantly, Ginger has to crack the unnerfed defensive bonus to take cities and I don't think he can do that without Astro and a massive imvestment to take the islands first (and he just wasted a bulb on Optics).
If I was in Gingers position I would build the naval siege stack I described in PB37 whilst trying to Harry the seafood tiles but commit limited material. Worst case that siege stack only needed to take advantage of a Gav implosion and to stake and hold cities, acting as an anvil to SDs wimpy hammer of an army. Best case Com unbalances his units and Galleons fracture his empire.
Shame this is off the table now.
