It's ok? They've got a decent riff going but they never seem to go anywhere with it. It seems like all intro.
I prefer my metal more high energy....
But I've always preferred punk to metal.

That's because it's the intro to Command and Conquer: Red Alert. The songs name is Hellmarch, not a bad song name for trying to take over the world.

Pindicator inexplicably left his damaged naval stack exposed. Now he doesn't have a navy other than new built Privateers.
So I landed a pair of Zerks and a Knight onto the Forested Deer adjacent to the city and promoted one of the Zerks to Woody II.
That let me deploy the rest of my navy towards Commodore and capture one of his island cities and I'm blockading his centralia city as well.
Commodore is advancing a stack of 28 (29?) Knights and 11 catapults.
Defending on a hill behind a castle is this:
This should be fun!

Yeah, that makes sense.
Good name though.

Thanks to this song (and its remixes in the sequels Red Alert 2 and 3), a random voice clip of a Canadian drill sergeant shouting "reform line, quick march!" has lived on for 30+ years
Best of luck in the war.

It is a joy to read this thread; the pure viking love of combat, free from angst about diplo, moaning about the map, the fifteen and one other things that even winning threads find to complain about.
Not that you've won yet, it's just nice to see someone actually having a good time in one of these games.
It may have looked easy, but that is because it was done correctly - Brian Moore

Yeah, great thread, not often the player channels the blood god this well!
Good turn, thanks for the reporting.

Thanks guys.
I must confess: this game has been some of the most fun I've had playing Civ in a very long time.
The map certainly has some flaws but at least I have Horses this game. :cute:
I'm not sure I can win from here but it's going to be fun. I'm 6-7 turns from Chemistry in a GA so it'll be another 10-12? turns after that before I can get to Military Science and Grenadiers/Commando.
Pindicator is 3 turns from Nationalism, presumably on his way to Military Tradition via Music. He should be able to get to Mil Trad before I can get to Military Science but I should only be a turn or two behind so I think I can hold him off on land while I build up to burn/capture his ports.
I'm hoping to be able to engage and sink Commodore's remaining navy in the next turn or two. Depends if he retreats it or if he engages my 5 galleon stack. If he does then he has the chance to sink a pair of knights and a zerk as well. I'm willing to trade that for the shot at his 7 galleons (including two 6 movers). From there I should be able to maintain both quantitative and qualitative Naval advantage in the inner sea. On land I think I can hold off Commodore's knight stack or at least cost him all his cats and the bulk of his knights to take a recently founded frontier city. He's got a couple of galleons in the outer sea that may or may not have any units on board but he's at least 3 turns away from any city he can attack amphibiously.

I love Barrage 3 cats.
And for the price of 4 galleons, I've sunk most of Commodore's pre-war navy as well as Pindicator's.
I make that 18 knights and a catapult destroyed for the loss of 6 cats and a musket.
The remaining forces:
All the fighting has spawned another GG.
That's 19/20 xp on the new knights. And War Weariness is rearing it's ugly head. The only consolation here is that Commodore will be getting hit with a load of WW as well. :silverlining_in_every_turd:
But all in all, it was a good turn.
