Werewolf 2 Lurker Thread: Spoilers!

Hey Uberfish, is this true? tongue

Roland Wrote:Uberfish, you're an absolute dick, and you SHOULD feel sorry. Apology accepted, begrudgingly.

AFAICT you've been a perfect gentleman in the game thread. Good job almost surviving an impossible situation.
I have to run.

Wait what? There's a traitor in the village? First I've heard of this. Who is it??

Now the answer to the obvious question of "what the hell was uberfish doing"? The answer is rather than a grand plan, a whole lot of totally unexpected things happened and I had to react.

1) Selrahc manages to get himself elected mayor completely by accident, we figure he's going to get scanned at some point anyway because it's the obvious thing for the seer to do, so not to try too hard to protect him.

2) We failed to discuss exactly what the hell we were doing at the end of day 1, leading to the cross-vote (which I then tried to use as evidence that I wasn't working with selrahc)

3) I thought my last minute vote for Sareln looked pretty damn suspicious, so decided to prepare a seer claim in case I needed to use it.

4) As part of that, I fingered selrahc end of day 2 figuring that no one was going to really go after him on the basis of one slip. This was planted info to make it look like there was evidence I knew Selrahc's identity.

5) Sunrise was scanned as seer night 2.

6) I had indeed chatted with sunrise and believed he was going to go to roland with information that he'd scanned Selrahc. Since selrahc was therefore dead meat, I figured I'd start the accusation on him to build cover. Due to all the subsequent role-claims the 100% correct move for the village was to lynch selrahc and there was no point arguing agianst this so we didn't try to save him.

7) Roland suddenly appeared and claimed to be the seer. I assumed he was protecting sunrise. Then he revealed the owl info.

8) It was a total surprise when sunrise revealed that he'd scanned me because I didn't think I would be a likely scan target. He said he scanned me because he'd been chatting with me, and wanted someone to discuss things with because he (correctly) didn't trust Roland's network not to be infiltrated. Argh!

9) At this point wolves agreed that I wasn't going to last too long either.

10) I decided to claim seer day 4 via PM to Roland to set the stage for a public claim later. My whole objective at this point was to see if I could take someone down with me. I picked Sareln because I was intending to make the most of the day 1 voting. Roland believed the claim and I let him talk me out of public claiming while he unexpectedly tried to save me through PM back channels (to protect my identity), which I felt pretty bad about towards the end. That's why he called me a dick which I can understand. On the other hand if I stopped him I wouldn't have been playing my role as werewolf properly.

11) Nearly got the kill and caused a lot of confusion in the process so I can be happy with that.

12) Rather less happy about the amount of meta-gaming that's crept into this one. PS: Sunrise complained about his vote counting because it wasn't red, but I think in this case F&I was totally correct to disallow it, voting procedure is one thing that should be properly followed with all the vote-switching that goes on.

If its anyone being a dick its starting to be Roland.

After a valuable start he has now really got onto my nerves and is really throwing a lot of spanners in the works.

He takes it much too seriously and I just pity him if he really is feeling as emotional about the game as his messages seem to convey
"You want to take my city of Troll%ng? Go ahead and try."

Quote:I think this is a bit too ripe for abuse, should the 'Wolves get someone in power (*wink, wink*). It's balanced by the fact that it's checked against everyone's input - tedious, but more open. This way, if the 'Wolves want to keep one of their own in power, they'll have to put their lives on the line in public - that doesn't matter to a Villager, but it does to a 'Wolf. Just my opinion on the matter. I haven't put any deep thought into it. :P

Whoever I passed the mayorship to would be under more scrutiny and suspicion, in return for a little gain in power.

Not my idea of "ripe for abuse".

I definitely don't think it is worth going through votes every day or two for the role. It's a day one talking point. Any later and there should be real stuff to discuss, and a 48 hour vote off for the mayor is just distracting.

Being a dick is the whole point of this game. You should be proud of what you almost achieved tongue

Wow some of Roland's post this last day are getting really out of line. For the record, this:
Quote:Oh, and Meiz wasn't my call. That was Luddite's, and you know it. Cheap shot Kyan, but once again you feel confident to speak as though you know everything - your word is gospel, just like Sunrise's.
Is totally not true. He and lewynn thought of Meiz first, and convinced me and to go along with it. I guess if it helps their cause they can blame the mistake on me, though.

Quote:Roland: So, to recap:
Serdoa, Meiz, Scooter are my top 'Wolf suspects, in that order.
Lewynn: MEIZ
Roland: Sareln, Irgy, and Haphazard1 are my top Villager suspects, in that order.
Gaspar is a possibility, but not a certainty. Ditto for a few others.
me: I think we can be certain that most of the people who voted for sandover are villagers
lewynn: yes
me: because, two votes would have swung it for sareln
10:20 AM Roland: Well...
lewynn: wolves would have used the oppourtunity to switch
Roland: Here's my thinking. We can't have you two voting too close together, nor in line with one another.
lewynn: impossible on that first one
Roland: So, I say one of you should follow my lead with either Meiz or Serdoa, and the other pick the remainder.
Lewynn: otherwise we miss the wolf
10:21 AM we know(as does everyone else) who I'm voting for
10:22 AM me: um who is that? sorry i haven't had time to read the thread carefully yet
Lewynn: MEIZ
me: why

and this later
Quote:Roland: Serdoa has been playing this since the beginning, right alongside Sandover.
Meiz is a close second, but Serdoa SCREAMS Wolf.
Scooter is a distant third - suspicious, and getting moreso, but not enough to lynch over either Serdoa or Meiz, right now.
me: i dunno i'll need to have some coffee first and read through it all again
lewynn: but, but Meiz is so smug
Roland: So is Serdoa.
me: right now i agree that serdoa and meiz are suspicious, but i'm not convinced

Kyan is going to be pissed when he finds out he's been operating under an incorrect assumption of how his role actually works. Also, his owl status was leaked to two different werewolves at separate times.

I feel this game has demonstrated some of the negative points of allowing PMs in any case, it leads to a lot of focus on power roles at the expense of frustrating villagers who aren't in the "network", while not being immune to wolf influence.

What's he mistaken about?

I haven't watched the ww game since a week ago or so, and, tbh, all these power roles are probably not making it enjoyable for the normal villagers and the players who this their first or second game. If you're going to do a game like this, and least say "we have many power roles, beware" imo.

I'm sure it's frustrating for the regular villagers (all nine of them lol) who feel like they're being led blindly by the power roles. But that's pretty much all we could do. Having effectively two seers is a powerful weapon, and any open discussion will be completely derailed by having a full third of the village on the wolf team.
