Love it

Enjoy the thread! Should be some fun commentary about your wars in there.

And at the end I might have been wishing for your loss after you canceled our OB  mischief

I suppose you didnt realize/see that i couldnt get ANY trade routes while at war right? neenerneener

WW is painful. I have to run 20% culture, and already did plenty of whips to get rid of pop in most cities.

Sorry citizens, I don't think Charriu would accept peace even if I offered. His whole attack on me seemed like "I'm done for, I'll do what I can to ruin your game".

On the war front, my healthiest Rifle would get over 50% odds attacking into the city, but overall we are too low HP. Ugh it's so close and yet so far away.

Charriu will heal faster, and will reinforce faster. I think I'll see what I can do with the mini-stack north, and then work towards consolidating my forces. For now I gotta keep threatening the cap so they don't just move to defend north.

Four Longbows was too much, so I'm pulling back with both stacks.

Sent a peace offer to Charriu. Might as well try right?

If he doesn't take it, I'll be pillaging what I can. He can hide behinds walls, but he can't attack out.

Since I couldn't kill Charriu fast, I don't really have a path to victory. That does however mean that when I go back in, if he hides in the capital again, I can just destroy everything else.

Power hits from our engagements. AT and Cairo also went at it.

Charriu didn't take peace. I'll start with taking out the roads, and the farms should give gold too.

I'm grabbing Theo for exp to new units. I think going for Steel for Cannons doesn't matter coz they are lower strength than Rifles and Trebs/Cats can perform the bombarding if you just bring more.

Charriu sent back a peace offer and I accepted. Need to get rid of this crippling WW.

Our gains from the war. Both are certainly strong cities with our coast tiles.
We also razed two cities from Charriu. I've been in wars that have gone worse than this, but I'm still disappointed.
Two times we got close to capturing his capital. First attempt failed because AT got crushed and Charriu could move back in time, not stretched on two fronts.
Second attempt we got so so close but didn't have enough to break through. That one was all my fault.

There are probably many small things I could have improved to succeed.
I could have cut the road to not allow the capital to be reinforced in 1T. I came up with the plan, started executing it, then backed out for ??? reason.
I could have brought more siege. Trebs would have been wonderful. I lost all my siege twice. The second one, capture of JuvenileWizards, wasn't necessary.
I could have kept the reinforcements coming. I could have teched to Caravels earlier and whipped them to let my galleys get across safely.
I could have upgraded the maces and moved them in earlier.

It's unlucky Charriu attacked me. Yes, I managed to fend him off and advance before even getting to Rifles. But this put Charriu into survival mode before I even started creating my stack.
Maybe he saw it coming, but when I cleared his stack, there's no way he wasn't in panic mode whipping everything to the ground. At the same time, my old units couldn't have beaten those 20+ str Longbows, so I had to wait.
He could have just built up defenses without attacking me, but none of us will ever really pull out all the stops until it's forced on us. Maybe he won't attack. Maybe he'll attack someone else. I'll just whip a little bit..

Funnily enough, Mjmd didn't attack Charriu. Instead he attacked AT to take this great city it seems smoke  smoke  smoke
OH got the Taj Mahal, further boosting his recovering economy. The window is soon closing on anyone else winning the game.

T200 overview. I don't think those Barays will pay themselves off, but I'm building em anyway. Kept switching on and off.
Preparing high xp Trebs from capital for bombarding.
I have 4 caravels, will build a few more. Two galleys should be enough.
I'm splitting up some of the 0xp Rifles for guard duty on coast cities. Sneak attacks are the only thing Charriu can hurt me with.
I have no plans for the Great Person spawning next turn. We'll see what we get and decide then.

Got Theology and revolted to Theocracy.

Great Person was a Great Engineer. We could rush Notre Dame for +2 happiness in all cities, but I might prefer the Oxford Uni once we get there.

Charriu has Galleons. Forced peace will still be on for a while, but yeah that's gonna be his avenue of attack. Mjmd has also been lurking around with a Caravel and a HA.

Demographics for your viewing pleasure.

I upgraded coast cities garrisons to Rifles in preparation for Galleon shenanigans.

I noticed AT didn't have his iron anymore, so I sent him some. I don't know how he lost his, it's in the middle of his country.

Second try posting this:

Mjmd declared war on Charriu. So it finally happened.

OH is going to declare on Mjmd in 5 turns and wants my help. I have to go through Charriu and we have enforced peace for 6 more turns. I tried to let him know that.

Today I discovered that you can't build a watermill on two adjacent tiles next to the same river. Makes perfect sense! I didn't think the devs had put in that much detail.
