Honestly the map was big, the land was poor (compared to maps 5 years ago, but it was more than adequate to play on). It took a long time for people to grow. Ricketiclick didn't and got eaten by SD< who continues to fumble the ball forwards ever since. PHI/IND Indian Mjmd oracled Masonry and then stole Mids from under Naufs' American nose in possibly the most absurd builder moment in recent history. Gav smacked mjmd down then turn on SD and took a row of cities with solid HA maneuverability against praets. GT got eaten from both sides by naurf (from teh west) and Ljub (from the east) after being unnecessarily militaristic tyhen attacked Gav for some reason, letting SD take everything back and then press on. Meanwhile Ginger sat in the builders corner and won the peace against Dreylin and Greenline and he is about to drop a hammer on Dreylin.
Don't go looking in Ljubs thread unless you want a solid example of what happens to someone with ADHD going off their meds (literally what Ljub admitted to in thread, and from my experiencing that is a pretty solid example of ADHD fixation). On a technical level it looked like he was going to overexpand and collapse but he has held it together pretty well for a newbie, with some strategic oversight and pointers from others.
You join at a good time to see someone (Giner) pull of the rare Mil Trad beeline. That's probably the main focus for the next couple of weeks. If Ginger can break Dreylin with minimal losses the game is likely his to lose, but then SD already has one conquest down and might take out most of Gav leading to the Roman civ theoretically being in the best position except, well, it's SD v. Civac and Ginger and SD can't build worth a damn.

I think ljubljana needed to take Dreylin's deal here, for morale purposes. If Dreylin decides there's no chance and withdraws to beat up greenline's stack instead with Ginger picking up the shrine and majority of cities, that's pretty close to concession territory.

Oh boy, after reading (mostly) all the stories, I know who “throw me under the bus”
And it was the person I least expected it to be.. (guess all the regulars in this thread know who I mean)

On the one hand, I like the creativity, but... there's no way ljubljana's ruse works here, right? Like a single real unit, jan or cuir, in Prussa would be enough, and with the roads cut so that he can't hit much beyond the two impis, where else would he put his cuirs?

Not sure how to respond to ljubljana's question, it sounds like he hasn't considered the possibility that there aren't cuirs in range this turn. Without prompting him to think about that, I'd say that re-offering the deal is fine, but communicating out-of-game to try and get Dreylin to log in a second time to accept the deal this turn is not allowed.

I'm afraid that the "peace for 30 turns" deal ljubljana is offering to Ginger is far enough outside the normally recognized set of AI diplo that Ginger could plausibly read it as the standard "peace for 10 turns" with a tiny bit of gold thrown in for some reason, and then refuse next turn's cow-for-cow + 29 gold and attack in 10 turns with Rifling.
EDIT: Yep, Ginger clearly thinks he agreed to 10 turns of enforced peace, and no more.

After I got scolded (righly so) for my latest big post in a player thread (PB73).
Can I post the following to Greenline ?
Quote:I thinks it's difficult to gauge techspeed with units.
Longbows are still latest (defensiv) tech.
And you can reach Cuirs without researching guilds.
Do you know 100%/0% research ? Maybe Lubj saved for more than one tech ?
And only food for thought: Maybe Ljub attacked you, because you didn't supported ljub against Ginger ? And instead allied with ginger ?
Common War is even in MP a diplobonus with most players.
I think there is nothing really critical - and all for things in the past - but I still write about another player.

Quote:So, we move now, almost the whole cavalry corp is going into greenline.
It sounds like Ginger does not view the Ankyra-for-NAP deal the way ljubljana did. I don't want to say anything, but if we get into a scenario where ljubljana sees Ginger's units moving but gets caught by surprise in greenline's territory by an attack he doesn't believe is allowed, I would feel real bad for him, with how stressed he says he has been playing the turns as is.

Ginger is beyond scummy, this is a straight backstab.
