For the record, this is not true, mackoti will get a second set of capture gold now.

Isn't capture gold based on number of turns the city has been held?

If you're that worried about a bit of extra capture gold they could gift it to some irrelevant player. Dhalphir, Suttree, whoever. But I have to think the amount captured would be an inconsequential pittance anyway. I don't think it's worth fussing over any further in the public thread though.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Yeah, but are you sure the counter resets when the original holder recaptures the city?

It's not, that's why I didn't post it there.

Yeah, and also when mackoti captured it the first time. Every time the city changes hands it's actually a new city being created.

All right then, I stand corrected.

I'm fine with using GG on Zerks because that makes sense, but wow you are trying so hard to make something out of that horrible promotion lol.

If we go the naval XP route, I don't think a super boat is really the best choice. Naval combat is so ridiculous, that I would think the expected value of getting 1-2 promos on a bunch of boats greatly outweighs the value of one great boat. Especially when we're facing an enemy that already has Drydocks in place, and so he has the promotion edge at the moment. Am I crazy for thinking this? I just feel like the swing from no promo to 1 across a bunch of boats is much bigger than several promotions for one given that you still can't get overwhelming odds with a super boat. Naval combat just seems so fluky - like that 88% complete loss.

Logged in real quick after Mack played. He offered straight peace:

I decided we need to at least look around first. He withdrew:

Should we re-offer peace? I think a little bit of a breather would be nice so we can finish a few things, take care of Bacchus, get some SOTL into the waters, and even reconsider taking those Black Sword islands with Grenadiers.

That said, we could try to pressure him instead. I'm just unsure if we could make any real ground.

Well you made him pay stuff for those free cities and pull a bunch of navy and landing forces away form his other war so it seems like a pretty good outcome for you. Maybe you should take peace and go kill Mr. Orange faster than Mackoti can kill his neighbor. Comeback when you have some sort of naval production parity.
