[spoiler] Civac fixes it (again)

We founded our 4th city. So far no other player has 4 cities. We will see if there will be players matching us, not everyone has played the turn yet. First axe is out, first spear will follow next turn. Both units are to secure city spot 5 and 6 in the west near the wheat and rice/sheep. (Edit: screenshots don't show these, cf. post 206) The rice is not irrigated. I missed that earlier. My sandbox was incorrect as well. The city is strong regardless. Unfortunately, the start will be quite a bit slower.

The work boat for the new city was early and scouted the south-western area.

As an aside, due to the availability of two workers for chops coupled with a strong production tile in the elephants we could have had the new city build a granary on size 1 which actually would have been comparable to growing with the clams. In that way the second city could have delayed the work boat and would have the granary finished already.

Demo:

In international news Hinduism was founded last turn.

We met Superdeath's scout in the jungle area northwest of Jowy. The scout is facing westward. Maybe he is originating from land east of Jowy. Superdeath is lagging in development already.

We need a word for the new city.

Next turn Mysticism is done. After two turn of collecting money we could make a bid for Buddhism. I'm not sure that is a good idea but the cost of failure would be relatively small. Buddhism could hurt us more if we do get it and overinvest in spreading it maybe. Otherwise, Sailing for the island city and Writing would be good choices I think. What's your take?

Excellent work and thanks for the update. I have changed the thread title.

Word of the day is quaesitum which means, just in case you didn't know, That which is sought; the answer to a problem..

Maybe I need to use it in a sentence ...
  • The quaesitum to your problem might come to you after some quiet reflection
  • No matter how confounding the case, Sherlock Holmes always finds the quaesitum

Save money and put off the next tech selection. A religion could power our border pops (on free spread) and that would be very beneficial. Agreed, slight risk but it looks like you have the bandwidth for that.

A flurry of cities was founded in turns 49 and 50. Superdeath made two in one turn. My read that he was significantly behind was apparently premature.

Amicalola built a 4k soldier unit, either a chariot or a spear. Our copper is extremely exposed to Amicalola. If he were to move a chariot out of the fog next to our copper as the second part in a turn split even a partially built spear wouldn't save us. The whip would be too late. I have advanced the warrior east to gain more vision but it will be needed as military police at some point. The combination of a partially built spear and the advanced scout would hold off a single chariot but it is somewhat thin.

New scouting information from the western area will be available next turn.

Edit: I went for Meditation already this turn. One turn of saving was enough. We need 4 turns to complete it.

The barb warriors in the west teamed up.

The Axe killed one of them and is at 4.4/5 and 1 EP. The spear will reveal some new tiles next turn.

This is the situation in the east. I may put the warrior on the forest 1 SE of its current position.

I had initially started an axe because it's better against barbarians. That may have been a mistake. I could whip some units but I want to double-whip a settler in that city.

Second culture expansion of the capital revealed this:

The buddhism gamble failed. We lost about two turns of 100% research.

Spear found some crabs:

I almost certainly will still found on the southern x with rice in the first ring and sqeeze in a city to the north at some later point. A third barbarian warrior appeared, barely visible at the lower edge of the screenshot. The axe is healing this turn.

Situation in the east:

A spear in Conurbation is pre-built to 6 hammers. I changed the micro to add a chop so it will be finished earlier. A monument will follow. I will try to play after Amicalola for the next 4 turns or so. This is almost certainly just paranoia but there is no reason to take that risk.

Add some digits to the power ratio in the scoreboard (instead of 1.1, you can see 1.0426) ... and that gives you more indication of what is happening on the power ratio front.

Worth a run at the religion.

Well we have graphs of most of them. So I know how much power they have.

I forgot to mention we met Gavagai. Again I don't know how.

you only get the power ratio if you have the graphs. Note that the graphs are lagged a turn or two. Or is it the other way around ... the scoreboard is lagged?
