[Eitb spoilers] Miguelito's fortune hangs on a thread

After an arduous march through ancient forests (3 move points on hillls!) we take the last Elven city.

GG coldrain, you played a very impressive first time game! During the treant rush it really could have gone both ways. Good job defending afterwards. I wondered why you ignored the Arc trait, but with our WS it may have been a good call. But then, as an elf, you didn't even have catapults for collateral, which together with the ongoing worldspell probably made your defense impossible alright.

And then I made a move that will seal, or reopen the game:

Blighttown had been taken by Q from coldrain during our first war with the elves, so it still didn't control its first ring. And when coldrain's culture went away it wasn't replaced, so...

After that I also felt safe, and obliged, to advance in the south:

The thing is, we have 4 melee units in Blighttown (including summons), and then the wizards defend. Which would seem ok against the wounded HAs, what with all the combat promotions, but Q also gets promo heal, and I fear that this is just the turn when he can finally activate his worldspell. And I read up on it only after the fact, and learned that it also gives a blitz promotion effect. Can it be dispelled with the Meta II spell btw?

If Q breaks through in Blighttown, coldrain's land and then our core are pretty much open, and he can rush through it with 56 moves per turn. It could turn the whole game over. On the other hand, if he doesn't, we can unite the fronts and can probably bring the whole thing home popcorn

Bing meanwhile continues to exist, but if that's all he can bring we don't need to worry. I popped the Divided Soul that was camping the Mirror of Heaven - now I remember why, it gives him vision - and offered peace.

Jumping in to say: GG!

Defending against those wizards was really difficult, but a great learning experience. I haven't read through the thread, will do so next. I really thought that I could do some massive damage with my world spell during the first war, but you defended very well with wizards and swords. After that, it was mostly downhill for me... But I enjoyed the challenge nonetheless!

Yes, the treants got us close to breaking point, having to defend on two fronts... and afterwards you fought us off well, but without even tigers due to our worldspell you really didn't have very many options. Moreso thanks to Q's help with air mana crazyeye (I suspect in fact fireballs alone may not have got through against you).

Speaking of, Q indeed fired his worldspell, and threw his horses against Blighttown. Ginny perished in her first fight, poor Harry alright (he's off spreading Hope among the dwarves, the coward). Also Luna Lovegood and Cho Chang (so Harry's other girlfriend... I sense a pattern). Those were our first wizard losses I believe.

The floating eye spotted Q's stack of mostly near dead horse archers NW of Princess Carolyn. We took the next two of his cities, opening a shooting position:

You see, spellstaves are still pretty awesome. We just managed to kill the whole stack. What's very nice about that is that these were all worldspell affected, while reinforcements will not be.

I enjoy Madam Pomfrey casting Regeneration.

After this turn I'm quite sure that it's a done deal. Bing did not give peace, but he also doesn't appear to have relevant units. His axes now have fireballs falling on them inexplicably from the fog. If they come closer, our new iron chariots will get some practice.

Congratulations, Miguelito! As dark as things looked before you got your wizards online, it certainly turned around quickly! This was a brilliant demonstration of the power of the Amurites once their war machine gets into gear thaumaturgical resonance!

Thanks team for the fun ride toast . I'm happy that the initial plan of 1) bulb Sorcery, 2) ...? 3) profit worked out, even though I really doubted it at times.

Let's listen to a classic to celebrate. Spellstaves really carried us here.
