Well if there's a counter to Landsknechte, *I'M* certainly not aware of it.

In fact, it came up in pbem 38 right?
And there was like only one situation when they'd be useful (over their replacements)?

So actually, you mentioned the Janissary and Musketeer hanging around waiting to come into their own.. and the couple of times I've played Francais it's been pretty effective to use the ole Knights and Mouseketeers' stacks to selectively wreck cities.
Rifles were the antidote - are they on the cards soon enough? (January 19th, 2013, 18:59)Commodore Wrote: (...) France...I expect Curs/Musketeers as his preferred clobbering device/time-frame. Um. Let's have rifles before then? Only trouble, of course, is the Nicolae is a good builder too, so he'll be ripping up the tech tree. I would not at all be shocked if he won this one. Will he wait for Curassiers?
Well, it's hard to say. Dazed's wrecked computer is slowing this to a crawl, but here's the high points:
I might try to ninja the Colossus from Nicolae; I'll chop/whip forge, and then finish the Colossus the next turn. Dazed stole marble from me his last GA turn with a Caste artist. Do you want to be my prime victim, man? ...maybe. I might just burn a city to make myself feel better, then bomb his whole front. Still expanding and growing; I'll bulb Philo and make a run at the Taj, probably via Liberalism, very soon. Pity this isn't Krillmod, the SE buffs there would have me definitely winning. Shaler and Ben Nevis settled soon.

Weee--eeelll, it must be about time for some more outlandish yet laid back moves by now?
Surely self-one-upsmanship dictates that previous in-game achievements are now redundant. Late Oracle grabbing CoL; lazy 1t Mids; uncontrolled but well defended, casually economy-crashing expansion, reeled in by Caste (& Rep?) and possibly Zigs with a mite of help from monks... forget it! So what's next, Commodore?
And I have *not* de-glyphed your city naming schema yet. Either it's something quite specific, or rules are... casual.
I might hazard a spoiler guess if the following is disclosed: Would Ossa be acceptable?
Heh. Ossa is my 30th city, if I make it that far. That help?
