Yeah I had to count what defenders can be brought to the city and compare whether extra dog or walls would be better. Masonry wouldn't be total waste since I need it for construction. Serdoa doesn't seem to have numids so I think I could delay HBR.
Mainly repositioning troops. Rome has now 9 Praets in the stack. Serdoa seems to be heading towards capital. That stack just is so easy to counter with 3-4 spears.
I'm not still sure about Walls, but did finish Masonry nevertheless. I don't think I need HBR urgently.
I'm also #1 in power now.
Serdoa finished Pyramids and someone founded Judaism.
Haven't checked and things are definately ok, if we hire all 8 possible scientists. Nevertheless I would say it is pretty anemic at the moment. Too much military. Without scientists ~20bpt and percentage probably ~20%.
Quote:Would you be intrested in signing a deal with me? It could be secret
one, if you've deals that prevent you from signing a visible peace
treaty.
Please let me know, if you're intrested. I've some ideas we could try.
TMIT:
Quote:I'm interested in what you have in mind, mostly because I'm not sure what you think I can do in the near future. I did indeed sign a 3 way agreement not to end the war unless others agree. That said, you wiped all of my local forces...I don't exactly have much bargaining power at the moment regardless and have long NAP with both other people dogpiling you so I can't do much to them. Still, if you have something in mind I'll listen.
To be honest, the primary reason I declared/attacked you in the first place was because I was contacted in regards to a 3 way dogpile. From my perspective, this was quite useful as I could meet the unit quota on 1 city, direct prats elsewhere, and severely hamper a competitor to boot. Even now, I doubt you'll die easily, and by making a long NAP with Rome I was betting that you would not (otherwise he runs away a bit, whereas if you hold or he barely takes you at great expense it benefits me and Serdoa).
I was fairly angry yesterday to open the save and find out that the dogs actually had 63% odds vs the axes; when I ran tests I had my guys attacking yours at 5.5 vs 5.4...but when the reverse happens apparently you get 4.4 vs 4.34...this I believe is some odd rounding error as the multipliers are the same regardless. Needless to say, this SCREWED me and instead of having to drop 4+ attackers on my metal units you wiped them out easily . This obviously helps your position considerably. While I'm not amused by the odds messing up based on who attacks, It's still my responsibility and at this point I have to weigh what I can do.
Which brings me back to my question; what are you thinking of? I can't stop war with you, and I like to honor my deals. Still, if you've something in mind that helps us and doesn't cause me to break deals I'd be happy to hear it.
Me:
Quote:Rome won't end up as a big winner from this fight. They've already
invested a lot and don't have realistic shot at killing me fast.
The deal could include e.g. Secret long NAP+border agreement. If you
need to appear active to your allies producing units etc. We would
agree about their movement and composition beforehand.
Longer term I'm also intrested in joint military campaigns. Do you
think you can fight against your current allies, when your NAP's are
over? If you can tell me, I would be quite intrested to know when your
deals are wearing off.
TMIT:
Quote:Put simply, I'd rather not deliberately undermine my current allies, and so I'd like to offer the meager assistance I'm still capable of offering to them honestly. I'd imagine if roles were reversed (you are Rome or Carthage), that you'd like the same of me in that situation as well. I also don't believe that undermining them helps me to win.
That said, none of us are in this to lose and only one can win. Even so, a long NAP or a border agreement are no-sells right now. I can't in good conscience make deals of that nature with a current enemy, but should you survive of course I'm not married to continuing to attack only you, especially when doing it harms my position. WK benefits from this situation enormously, and Rome remains a legit threat also.
I realize that from your position, you want to shake the current alliance as much as possible as it's the best chance to survive AND remain a competitor to win. Should you survive against the remaining forces against you and get out of the war, I would not mind a NAP, even an overt one, but not before that happens.
Otherwise, I'd like to avoid any under-handed deals.
Rome
Me:
Quote:I'm checking my options. Are there any deal possible that would send
your Praets elsewehere? TMIT has nothing and Serdoa's stack is pretty
unimpressive. I'm pretty certain you can't just walk over me so this
will just end both of our chances to do well in this game.
Rome:
Quote:Mack here
I know i cant just walk over you, but i have to try, if i dont get you down my game its over anyway.I invested so much in this as you can see . I made a wrong decision and i ahve commitments, i cant see other options.
and Serdoa
Me:
Quote:I don't think your dogpile would accomplish much more than it already
has i.e. Forced me to ruin my economy with excessive military builds.
Is there a chance for a peace treaty? It could be secret in case there
are binding agreements with other nations.
Serdoa:
Quote:I am sorry but at least right now, there is no way for me to agree to something like this. mackoti would eat me alive if I did.
Well, the path is clear. Eliminate most of the praetorians and the alliance crumbles.
Those chariots aren't a threat against spears but we don't have that many roads so they could conceivably outmaneuver us once they get out of the jungle.
