As an extension to what I wrote in Commotay's thread, I would add that I think Commodore has a very strong tendency to push a narrative (and push one very well), and that to some extent a desire to push the idea that the game is still in contention (and thus, he can still lose it) is leading to him focusing on the negatives of his position rather than his clear advantages.

It's never dishonest in fact, but in focus. Consider, for example, the tiny AW game with Scooter. There, Scooter was undeniably in the pole position pre-capital raze, but Commodore was still a quite strong second (and had advantages in different areas by virtue of different focuses - some of which, iirc, Scooter had misplayed to allow him to have). Update after update there was a sense of fighting against the odds, hopeless struggle, and so on, but then as soon as the knockout blow on Scooter's capital occurred, it was very clear who was in command of the game. And looking back, Scooter's disadvantages are suddenly abundantly clear (surrounded on all sides, fighting off both second and third place in a very small map with a hundred things that could go wrong on any turn), but because of Commodore's skill as a storyteller and the strength of the narrative he was pushing, they were not things I was even really considering at the time.

Anyway. I think my argument by analogy is pretty clear.

Commodore's reality is about as honest as a pro wrestling villain's. Whether it's pure kayfabe or whether he actually believes his own stories is a completely separate question.

I suspect it starts as the former and gradually morphs into the latter.

I can kinda see where Tasunke's coming from, but I don't know if I've ever seen a more incoherently styled argument. All those ellipses, random words in caps and quotes take me way back.

But lol if he thinks that HAK/Mindy's army of drafted Maces are going to make a dent in Commodore.

Wait, maybe I'm confused, but wasn't the main reference from the PB27 thread meant to be Commodore's "Liberation" of the island city back to Elkad? Everyone's getting distracted by the "bigger ticket" sale from Tasunke to HAK, but isn't the earlier gift the more problematic one?

Yeah Dreylin, I was thinking of Commodore's gifting of the cities that he took off me to Elkad. It perhaps adheres to the letter of the rules (although he didn't check with the lurkers first rolleye) but goes completely against the intent. That's what convinced me 100% of plako and Krill's position of city trades as being essentially unworkable.

3 good reasons for Zulu to attack Inca:

1. You attacked me
2. You're winning
3. I'm getting payed for it

Plus what Tas said.

Shit Mardoc get Commodore some burn ointment whilst you're there.

HAK hasn't noticed that Gav's stack went from 10 catapults to 18... and he has 57 hitters to HAK's 41 defenders (and 10 cats). So, he should expect approximately 18 + 18*6*(41/51) = 105 collateral hits, or about 105/41 = close to 2.5 hits per unit. That's on top of Gav being able to lose 6 fights and still wipe the stack... so lets say 3 collateral hits per unit. That's what, roughly 30% hp gone from his LKs? HAK needs to retreat or he'll get wiped for sure!
