[SPOILERS] Scooticator and Pindooter give a sporting try

Lots of comments, so now that I've got some time....

(May 2nd, 2014, 20:16)antisocialmunky Wrote: Do you have plans of conquering your whole continent?

No plans really. Once Azza's out of the picture I'll step back, figure out what sounds fun to do, and give that a shot. If that means simcity, cool. If that means operation continent conquest, cool. If that means stabbing Mackoti (more on his antics soonly), cool. No plans yet though other than golden age in the next 10 turns or so.

Awesome! Except... it's not the capital anymore. For now.... smoke

(seriously though, glad to hear they won. I'm still in mourning over the Wings getting eliminated from NHL playoffs)

Yep. Mine has been pretty distorted due to heavy war weariness for a little while, so it should be about corrected now. I'll try to remember whenever I get in (probably not til tomorrow since Azza probably won't play until late).

Thanks! I've already increased its base value by 5gpt (couple free spreads helped) since capturing it. So that's fun.

Oh, the most important part... Let's check in on the most important thing - who got the killing blow in on the most civilizations.

Once I notch the 4th in a few turns, I'll declare victory and drop the mic.

I think it was WillLP who finished Retep.

What are your plans to remain competitive with Plako and Mackoti?

Well obviously you moved the capital to get the Bureaucracy bonus in the Ironworks city to build some sort of wonder faster.

Combined with cascading overflow through the settler and palace into the wonder.
I have to run.

You know it would be even more amusing if you just played overwhelming defense to force Mackoti and Plako to deal with each other.

Some more shots from T235. I was afraid Mackoti would start sniping spots that I razed from Lewwyn with settlers, so I went all out trying to get my settlers in place.

Yep, that's 14 workers placing 7 rails in one turn so that the settler could get there with just a fraction of a movement point to spare.

Mackoti actually did snipe-settle that Kayseri location, but it would have been culturally crushed had I settled it anyway, so I'm not too torn up about that particular spot. Also, time for another round of boat chaining. Begin turn:

End turn:

Those are always fun. Finally, let's talk about Mackoti.

Hilariously enough, Plako killed my Privateer that had been out of sight, probably assuming it was one of Mackoti's. Then Mack declared war. He's got a few other boats over by his border with Plako, but here's his Destroyers coming through my south. It really looks AI-like in the way you see them streaming units toward a target.

At first I thought he was moving these boats down here so that he could snipe Azza's capital. Because of that I hatched an elaborate plan that would have me capture on AD 1645, the same turn Mackoti can declare (which, given how many units Azza has, means there's no way Mack could capture until AD 1650). You can kinda see the signs - the "40, 45, 50" numbers are referring to the date, not turn numbers. That means delaying the capture of Azza's inland city, but who cares about that one since Mack can't get to that in time.

Seems like all that planning was pointless since Mack is targeting Plako, but I'll stick with the plan just to be safe.

Anyway, Mackoti. He's making a LOT of enemies right now. I don't like him - in-game that is (little-known fact: Mackoti is honestly one of the nicest people around here) - he's extorted cities from me twice now. It was absolutely best for me to take those deals, but it doesn't mean I don't begrudge the Ottoman empire for forcing me to make that choice. Mackoti razed one of FinHarry's cities way back and has turned that into sort of an eternal cold war, so they certainly aren't BFFs. Mackoti also just captured the two cities from Commodore (that were really from me) AND then extorted (at least) 50gpt out of Commodore for peace. Now he's declaring on Plako. I don't doubt that he's hoping he can bully Plako into some quick gains, but I'm not so sure that's a wise course of action. Mackoti really ought to just tough up and slam into FinHarry. Sure he would take massive losses initially, but he's an era ahead on the waters AND he has like 4x the MFG that FinHarry have. So here he is. I'm really curious what Plako will do here. If Mack falters, there's no shortage of civs that would be happy to help kneecap him.

EDIT: I wrote this, and of course after I wrote it Mackoti and Plako signed peace already. Not surprising really.

I'm going to do my best to keep reporting - even sporadically - just because I recognize how unique/rare it is for a game to still be going strong and be in doubt this late.
