Did anyone tell Ichabod that he confused north and south?

That's pretty funny! I can see the logic for wonders not giving culture, but never thought of it myself!
So my big decision for next turn might be whether to keep Exeter. Against: - serdoa has whipped a lot of horse archers recently - his stack healing up in crewe is still bigger than my army - pyramids are more helpful for a non-fin civ like his For: - its my city and I want it back - it culturally surrounds crewe, preventing reinforcements getting through and possibly allowing me to kill that stack (if I put together a lot more units!) So if I think I can hold out against the next wave of attack from HA's I'll keep it... if not

It's not just wonders, all captured buildings do not give culture.

I thought other culture buildings got destroyed, just hadn't put 2+2 together on wonders...

Some buildings (the more culture-oriented ones, but also some no-culture ones) always get destroyed. Some buildings that produce culture like libraries can survive.

Harry - not certain, but I don't think you'll be able to raze your city if you recapture it.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
Turn 86
So Serdoa has moved an awful lot of horse archers into Exeter - I'm not sure what lies in the mountains beyond, but there is only one HA in a position to retake the city if I can capture it. So I decided to use my great general to put collateral promotions on seven of my catapults and cross my fingers... (Sorry! How do you turn one of these images upside down, so you get the tension build up but can still read it?) Wow! I think I got lucky with the cat rolls at the start, but the collateral made the end very easy. I wiped out 11 Horse Archers, an axe, a cat, a spear and 5 chariots! The odds were: 13% - loss 26% - withdraw 39% - withdraw 39% - withdraw 39% - withdraw 59% - withdraw 61% - loss 71% - won 73% - won 45% - won 99% - won 99% - won 99% - won 99% - won 96% - won 96% - won 96% - won 96% - won 99% - won 99% - won 99% - won 98% - won 99% - won 99% - won 99% - won 99% - won 99% - won Even better - the two workers in the city turned into Fast Workers when I captured them! I think this might be the best turn ever! You were right Bigger, I didn't get the option to raze Exeter, but if Serdoa only has mounted units coming this way for the next three or four turns I'll just put all my spears in here and let him do his worst. The HAs you can see to the NW are all individuals. The next couple of turns are going to be tough though - I think the stack in Crewe will head towards Altrincham or Darlington hoping to decapitate me or destroy Stonehenge. Right now my cats are pretty badly damaged and need to recover quickly and using my great general to give them Barrage means I don't have a super-healer unit. In fact it's likely that the Zerg will move out next turn, so I don't even have the luxury of healing. Guess I'll keep building new catapults and HAs. I could at this point offer peace for Crewe, but I'd like to take my army (which has totally crashed my economy) to go and say hi to Serdoa, whose army is only about 10 axes bigger than mine now! I'm not going to win this game now, but I'd like to make it so he won't either...
